Christa
AU: OlderThe wild wind battered Christa's face as she trudged onward. She had her sights set on something and nothing in the world could stop her getting to it.
It was the grave of her brother, Damyen.
Christa had not been back to visit her brother's final resting place in years. Everything had just moved too quickly. But it was finally time for her to return for the last time. Just once more. She stopped as her feet nearly touched the edge of the marble in which Damyen's named was engraved into.
Slowly she knelt, placing a cold hand atop the marble. "Hello, Damyen. I missed you," She whispered softly and sweetly. Gently, she dropped herself down into a petite crossed-legged sit.
"I am sorry that I haven't been around at all lately. Life becomes so crazy," She sighed, "And I know that you would tell me not to miss you, but I do. I do so very much."
With a little smile, she perked up and spoke again. "Ah! I bet you didn't know I am married now, did you?" She teased. She tapped the flashy ring with encrusted diamonds proudly.
"Don't worry, you'd like him. I promise," Christa chuckled, "I'd never marry a man who you wouldn't have approved."Slowly but surely the snow began to fall. Christa held her hand out and let a snowflake settle on her palm. "It is times like these when I wish you were here," She frowned.
Christa began to shiver as more flecks of snow fell from the sky like angels and sat upon her shoulders. It was time for her to leave. "Damyen, this is the last time I will be here. I can't say why but I won't return. I can't," She whispered, once again placing a hand on the marble-topped grave, "Goodbye."
She pushed herself up from the ground and brushed the snowflakes off her shoulders and a tear from her eye.
Before long, she stopped. More and more tears had begun to stream down her face and drip onto her jacket.
The wind. It had whispered something to her. It was quiet but Christa could recognise her brother's thick and mellow Russian accent from miles away. One very last time she glanced back, eyeing the grave."I love you too, brother."
