I watched a young mother gently tug her child's hand as she tried to maneuver around the crowded marketplace. However, she was not successful. A older looking man grabbed her by the throat roughly and pulled her and the child into the empty alley.

My ears twitched as I heard the woman screaming and crying. Of course only I had heard the commotion. I rubbed my jaw and quietly walked over to the entrance of the alley, listening in on the conversation. If, it could even be considered a conversation, with the man yelling and the woman crying.

"Give me your money." He shouted while pressing a knife into her throat. My eyes narrowed.

"Please sir, I don't have anything. I was just walking with my daughter." She croaked out through tears.

That's when I finally noticed her daughter. She seemed to be around the age of five or six but she was breathtaking. How didn't I notice her before? Her hair was the color of a ravens wing and it cascaded down her tiny body. Those eyes. They were a soft brown and held so much terror in them. She was absolutely beautiful.

The thief obviously realizing the same thing, pulled away the knife from the mother and grabbed the little girl, slamming her head into the back of the knife, knocking her out.

"NO! Please don't hurt my baby." She screamed at the thief.

"I'm sure I can sell her and get some cash." He muttered thoughtfully to himself.

"NO!" The mother screamed and lunged at the thief. He went to plunge the knife into her but it slipped. Into the little girl.

"Oh shit." The thief took off running into the direction of the alley. I raised my hand and stopped him.

"Get the fuck out of my way, freak." He shouted trying to push past me.

"Worthless scum. You hurt her." I growled and and with a flick of my wrist his neck snapped and he crumbled to the floor.

My head snapped back to the mother and her little girl. The mother had her daughters lap in her head still sobbing. The wound on her was fatal. He stabbed her a few inches from the heart and she didn't have much time left.

I swiftly walked out of the shadows, approaching the mother. She final noticed me and snapped her head up, fear evident in her eyes.

"You. You're one of them. Please. You have to help my daughter! Please. Help her." She begged while crying and clinging to the little girl.

"What will I get in return?" I asked.

"Anything. Please. Just help her."

"She's lost a lot of blood. I'll give her some of mine, but we will be linked."

"What do you want then?"

"I will come to claim her when she turns eighteen." I answered calmly.

"Twelve years...." She came to the realization that there was nothing she could do.

"I love you baby, I'm so so sorry." She muttered as she laid a kiss on her cheek, a tear landing on her. The mother looked up at me and nodded.

I gently picked her up and layer her head against my chest.

"I will bring her back to you after I'm done. Go."

"Are you sure, how will you even find-"

"Enough. I promise I will deliver her back unharmed."

Her lips pursed into a flat line, "Thank you so much. May I ask your name?"

"Rhys. Rhys Stone." Her eyes widened but she nodded and started to walk out of the alley, visibly shaken.

As soon as she left, I carried her to the shadows where I was standing and sat down, gently placing her on my lap.

She looked so small and fragile.

I bit my wrist and gently pried her tiny mouth opened and let the blood flow. A bolt of energy passed through me as she drank softly.

She opened her eyes gently and sat up slowly, still in my lap.

"Who are you?" She asked softly, her voice twinged with sleepyness.

"My name is Rhys." I told her just as gently.

"That's a nice name." She told me with a smile on her face.

"What's yours?"

"Flora."

"Flora. That's a pretty name for a pretty girl."

"Thank you mister. Why did you save me?" She was so innocent.

"Because you belong to me now." She cocked her head to the right like a puppy.

"Why?"

"I gave you my blood sweetheart." I whispered as she stared at me curiously.

"Thank you. I was so scared." She whimpered as a tear fell down her face.

"Shh. It's okay baby, don't cry. He can't hurt you anymore. I murmured softly.

"Thank you." She whispered again, her eyes gently started to flutter shut.

"Shhh it's okay baby. You'll repay me later. Sleep."

Her head lulled to the side and she let out a little snore.

I quickly followed her moms scent and located their house. I knocked on the door and the mom immediately opened.

"Flora! Oh god, thank you." She quickly grabbed Flora from me and coddled her.

"I'll be right back, I'm going to put her in bed. She went into the house and came back out five minutes later.

"Thank you so much. I don't even know what to say but thank you. But... You won't hurt her right?" She questioned with a hint of worry.

"No I will never hurt her. She's my soul mate. I will be checking on her as the years go by." I explained and several emotions crossed her face.

"Oh. Um. Okay. Thank you again for saving us." I grinned and walked back to the street.

I can't wait to make you mine, Flora.
