"Lady Rose Blackwood, because of your sins in harassing the second prince's fiance, the Holy Maiden of this kingdom, you shall face exile!"

The King's threatening voice echoed through the large palace hall while the audience and officials quieted down to watch the drama. Three of the most gossiped youths in the kingdom were now gathered before the king to hear his decree. Among them were the talented and handsome Second Prince Gerrard, the Holy Maiden Lily Lockehart, and finally, the infamous Lady Rose Blackwood who was known for her sharp looks and willful character.

Upon hearing the King's decree, Lady Rose could not control the rage brewing within her. Her breaths were ragged and her body trembled, but she forced herself to calm down. She finally looked upon the second prince with a determined gaze.

"Prince Gerrard, I've always been faithful to you. Was it wrong for me to protect what is mine? You've always been my fiance!"

The second prince looked at her coldly. She had never seen such alienation in his eyes before. He sneered, "Since when was I yours? Our engagement was clearly arranged by you and your father one-sidedly." The Prince turned his gaze and looked affectionately at the girl in his arms. My heart only belongs to Lily! She is pure and kind, and unlike you, she would never hurt anyone!

Lily shyly looked up at the prince and blushed. The prince caressed her face tenderly before looking up at Rose with enmity.

"All you've ever done is bully her everyday! Don't you know how despicable you are?!"

Rose bit her lip. She knew she was a despicable woman in the eyes of others, but the words hurt so much more when it came from his mouth. She gazed at the heartless prince...Since their childhood, she had always showered him with her deepest affections.
Yes, it was her one sided decision to propose having him for a fiance, but that was because she pitied him when the King did not favor him. In the past, Prince Gerrard was an illegitimate son who had to endure harsh training and punishments day by day, just to survive. But since the Blackwood family was influential during those days, Rose wanted to extend a helping hand to him by choosing him as a marriage partner out of the many qualified men in the kingdom. As she protected him in their childhood, she eventually fell in love with him.

When he was scarred from his training, she was there to dress his wounds. When the King locked him up for his disobedience, Rose would sneak up to his window to deliver food and play with him. And when his mother passed away, she was there to comfort him. Anyone who bullied him had to go through her, whether it be other children, or even officials. Her father, General Blackwood, had the luxury of covering for her since his place at leading the kingdom's military was unmatched.

But everything changed when that Holy Maiden, Lily Lockehart appeared. How could she let a stranger come between them? Rose could not give up on Prince Gerard just like this.

"So I'm despicable?" Rose raised her voice unconsciously, as she stared angrily at the prince. "I've only done my part as your fiance!" She pointed at Lily in accusation. "She kept attending gatherings where she was never invited and always approached you! Ms. Lily certainly doesn't know her place. I'm doing her a favor by teaching her the rules!

The prince protectively hugged Lily. "I had invited her as my friend to those occasions, and yet you teach her a lesson by hurting her?! Is that the way a proper noble girl would treat others?"

Rose glared at the weak woman who hid behind Prince Gerrard's arms. If gazes could pierce, Rose would have burned a hole through Lily by now. "Then let's switch places. If some man were to approach your 'Lily, would you kindly give her away?"
