The Road Ahead

I woke from my bed head aching, I move the covers and headed to my mirror in my room I look at myself and see my curly hair and milky Brown skin with my dark brown eyes staring back at me. I head to my bathroom to start the shower as I go in my head starts ringing even harder than it was before I fell to the ground and all I could think about not this not on the first day of school not my senior year. I pulled myself off the floor and start running the shower water. I then take off my clothes and hop in the shower. I begin to wash my body clean but something was not right I just felt off something just felt like after today nothing would be the same. I hop out the shower I head over to the Mirror by the sink I begin to brush my teeth from downstairs I can hear oscilla downstairs calling my name" Jacob Jacob what are you doing you're going to be late" she said with so much enthusiasm. I rush and just throw some clothes on and head downstairs she already had a meal ready for me "hurry up and eat so I can drop you off at school and get your day started you know they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day" she said with a huge smile on her face." yes ma'am" I said smiling but holding back from telling her that I just feel like something's off she knows im empathetic and can feel things shift, I don't think she should know that there's something wrong with my head and that it's still ringing not as painful as earlier but it's still there. She will make a big deal out of it. I finished my breakfast grab my backpack and we head out the door on the way driving to my school the town looked busy and I haven't seen this town this busy since the night my parents died. I could only help but Wonder what was going on in the town of goosetown strange things always happen here. I guess I shouldn't really be too worried but something wasn't adding up. We arrive at my school and as expected my best friend Ivy who's waiting for me "took you long enough gosh I've been waiting out here for centuries" Ivy said with a smirk on her face. I smile at her and get out the car "you always got something to say Ivy when you going to fix that attitude of yours." she eyes me "hahaha very funny Jacob you got jokes now let's take our asses in school before we are late." we head into school and everyone's frightened scared. We could over here some students whispering "Josh was eaten last night the police say it was another bear attack." I looked at Ivy with concern in my eyes especially since Ivy loves to be out in the woods."You got to stop going out there in the woods I don't know what I would do if I lost you Ivy you're my only friend I got in this fucked up town please for me Just keep a low profile for now I just I don't want you to get hurt ivy I don't want to lose anyone else" I said with a hurt voice. Ivy looked at me I could tell she was scared "don't worry about me small fry you just need to be worried about yourself and this school year it's going to be the biggest one yet I'm going to be fine trust me" she said with a crack in her voice."Yeah trust Ivy The Fearless" I said "yep that's me now you can take your ass to class before your late" Ivy said with a smile.I head to class and I opened the door right as the bell rings "that a tardy mr. Jacob now take a seat" said my professor Eric I always felt like he had a thing against me like he hated me for something even from the school year before he just was always out to get me And I wasn't even his student yet. "Really are you serious I walked in at the same time the bell rang I don't know what your problem is with me but you need to get your head out your ass" I said Furious. "And that's a detention mr. Jacob now if I was you I wouldn't say nothing else back to class" he said with distain. class is over and I headed to the next period and sit down. Time flies and we're at lunch I get my lunch and try to find ivy. I spot her she's waving at me so I go and sit next to her she was telling me how everyone in school is talking about Josh's death. I didn't know Josh that well all I know is he played for the football team "they say that he was ripped to pieces arms gone legs found far from the crime scene they're looking for Veronica she was with him that night they hope she is safe but if it's true what there saying they might as well just like stop looking for her there might not even be a trace left." Ivy said intrigued "what are you thinking of ivy please don't let it be one of your ridiculous schemes " I said exhausted with a sigh "okay okay okay just hear me out we go look in the woods and see what we can find out there like what could be the harm in that" she said sounding even more intrigued. "I don't know IVY maybe getting eaten or ripped to pieces alive I like my life ivy I don't want to lose it not yet I haven't even turned eighteen yet" I said concerned. " speaking about turning 18 your birthday is like in five more days what you got planned birthday boy or soon-to-be birthday boy whatever floats your boat lol" Ivy said. I could already tell in the look in her eyes she was already planning something "I don't know ivy I was just planning on staying at home I can't throw a party so I plan on being by myself maybe smoke a little" I said with my head down. "By yourself are are you stupid that's what you have your bestie for in this God forsaken town I'm not going to leave you dry on your 18th birthday that's a milestone my dude" Ivy said with her crazy smirk. "You're definitely something else but you're right that's why you are my best friend it seems every school year I can never Escape your craziness always get me into something" I said giving her the same crazy smirk. "Meet me after school and we can go into the woods together" Ivy said with the look on her face. A look I know too well there was no stopping her "I got detention from Eric so if you want to wait and meet after six we I'll go" I said with A Sigh right after. "He still bothering you after all these years I'm gonna have to put him in his place" Ivy said with anger. "Put who in there place I hope you're not talking about me Ivy" Mr.Eric said appearing out of nowhere "And if I was what you going to do about it how about you mind your fucking business and get a life ever since we got here you been picking on jacob don't you think that kinda weird you fucking creep" Ivy said with disgust in her eyes "detention see you both there and it wouldn't be wise for either of you to go out into the wood at night" Mr Eric said smiling while he walks off. "Ivy why would you do that you have stopped when i was telling you to now you have detention" I said confused "hey just look at it as we get to spend more time with each other and the guys a prick " Ivy said with a big smirk on her face. We have the next period together and start talk about the woods and what could have done that. Ivy has her concussion " I mean how do we know it's not Mr.Eric the guy is a major creep watch out he might come for next" Ivy says with a look on her face trying to hold back from laughing. I then laugh and say "nah after what you said earlier I think he's going to wait for me and go after you"ivy looks at me and punches my arm " not funny I mean a little but not really" ivy says then finally busts out laughing. Time flies and its the last period of the day "reading".We are assigned a book to read during class,"the moons last dance"as I was reading the book the letters start to change into symbols and words I can't comprehend then my head explodes with pain. I tell the teacher I need to go to the nurses office she writes me a slip to see the nurse and sends me on my way. Im in the nurses office and explaining to the nurse what's been going on with my head she tell me" you might have migraines" and gives me some pain medication and sends me back to class. School's over and it was time to head to detention fuck I dont want to be here.
