Jase's POV
"Jason, wake up!" I heard someone yell. My eyes shot open to find beautiful stormy gray eyes staring at me. I would've known those eyes anywhere, they belonged to my best friend and crush Emelia Smith.
Emelia and I had been best friends since kindergarten when I stood up from her when she was being picked on by some guys two years older than us. I got into a fist fight with the kids and got sent home from school. Emelia showed up at my house to make sure I was okay after school that day and we've been best friends ever since. I've been there for her through everything in her life and she was always there for me. She's three months younger than I am. Her birthday being May fourteenth and mine being February fourteenth. Even though its been twelve years Emelia was still as adorable as ever. Her smile was like a bunch of little shiny pearls perfectly aligned. Her hair was a soft caramel color that shined when light hit it correctly; and her eyes were a stormy grey. In my eyes she was and always will be beautiful.
"Ah!" I yelped and scrambled towards my headboard. I banged my head on the wood and Emelia laughed. "Not funny Em!" I groaned and sat up.
"Yes it was," She smirked, "nice boxers by the way."
I looked down to see what she was talking about. My blanket was kicked off to the side and I was wearing nothing but skeleton boxers. I felt my cheeks flush and my ears turn red. I quickly pulled the covers over me and gave Emelia the death glare, "Who let you in here anyway?"
"Your dad did, but if he didn't I was planning on sneaking up here anyway. It's not like your dad was gonna say no though." She smiled for a moment before frowning. She scooted closer to me and looked up at my forehead.
"What the heck are you-" She shushed me and touched under my left eye. She looked at me deadly serious.
"What did you do Jase?" She scowled.
"Nothing..." I tried to avoid the question. Emelia just glared at me.
"Jason...don't lie to me!" Emelia was starting to get pissed at this point. I sighed and pulled my blankets over my head.
"Igotintoafight." I said quickly."
"I could not understand a word you just said." She groaned and pulled the blanket off my head.
"I got into a fight yesterday." I sighed. Emelia glared at me and crossed her arms.
"With who?" She growled. I looked away from her and pulled the blanket back over my head, "JASON BRIAR WEST WHO THE HELL DID YOU GET INTO A FIGHT WITH!"
"Mason..." I mumbled, fully knowing that she would get mad at me for it.
"Jase what did I tell you about getting into fights on my behalf!"
"I'm sorry but he shouldn't of hit you!"
"Jason I told you I don't need you to fight my battles for me, why cant you just listen for me for once!" She yelled and puffed out her cheeks.
"Look I'm sorry, I couldn't just stand by and do nothing. He hits you all the time when you guys fight and its not right, I had to do something about it." I sighed and put my head down in shame.
"I'll let it slide this one time but the next time you do it I swear to God I will beat you up myself." She giggled and hugged me. How the hell was she taking this so lightly?
"Umm I don't mean to interrupt this touching moment you two love birds but if you don't get a move on you two are gonna be late for school." My dad said from my doorway. I felt my cheeks heat up and Emelia released me from the hug.
"I should probably get ready for school." I laughed. Emelia giggled and climbed off my bed.
"I'll be downstairs." She smiled that beautiful smile that I've been in love with for eight years.
I crawled out of bed and quickly threw on a white tee shirt, ripped black skinny jeans, black converse high tops, and my black vans hoodie. I swept my messy black hair over to the side with a comb before grabbing my backpack and bolting down the stairs.
I swung by the kitchen and grabbed a piece of toast right before heading for the door. Emelia was already outside waiting in her car and I knew she did not want to be late for school. My dad grabbed my arm right before I left the kitchen. I looked at him with a confused expression and he gave me a thin smirk.
"Just tell her already Jace. Life would just be better for all of us." He sipped his coffee and continued to read the newspaper. I sighed and shook my head.
"We aren't having this conversation right now dad. I'll tell her when I want to tell her." I sighed and shook him off. I walked out and jumped in the shotgun seat of Emelia's Mercedes Benz convertible that Mason had bought her for her sixteenth birthday.
"There you are! I thought I was going to have to go get the twins without you!" She giggled and started up the car. I rolled my eyes and shoved her shoulder playfully.
"Yeah right you would never leave without me." I teased. She laughed and started to pull out of my driveway. We drove ten minutes across town to Dillan and Alex's house.
Dillan and Alex Moore have been mine and Emelia's closest friends since sixth grade. The four of us did everything together. Dillan and I were the tricksters of the group and loved to play pranks on people. Alex and Emelia were the two girly girls of the group and always got annoyed with the pranks especially when they got pranked themselves. Alex and I are pretty close but it is slightly awkward due to fact that in junior high Alex had a huge crush on me. Around that same time I had developed feelings for Emelia and didn't know how to tell Alex I liked her best friend. But everything is fine now and we ended up getting past all of that. Dillan and Alex were known around school as the twin sass master. The dynamic duo were always roasting people and coming up with clever comebacks.
We pulled up to the house and the twins had the same expression on their faces; irritated and unhappy. Dillan and Alex got in the backseat and we started to take off towards school.
"So would you mind explaining why you are ten minutes late picking us up this morning?" Alex sassed from behind me. Emelia gave me a sideways glance before looking in the mirror at Alex.
"Sleeping Beauty here decided to sleep in and then take his precious time getting ready this morning." Em rolled her eyes and laughed.
"God Jase you're worse then Alex when it comes to getting up and ready in the mornings." Dillan sighed and flicked the back of my head. Alex shot her sister a dirty look before punching her arm
"At least I don't look like I haven't slept in a week Dill!" Alex laughed and stuck her tongue out. Dillan rolled her eyes and shoved her sister into the car door. The girls started shoving each other and insulting each other left and right. I found it rather amusing but Emelia looked quite agitated before she finally exploded.
"STOP IT!" She yelled, "Do not make me pull this car over! I can and will make you walk to school until we graduate!" Emelia huffed and pulled into the parking lot.
"Sorry Em." Alex and Dillan said simultaneously. We all got out of the car and started heading into the school.
