A Forged Letter

~~Aspertia City~~

A young Tepig raced across his home. In the driveway, a Pidove walked up to the mailbox and deposited a letter. Tepig raced for his momma Emboar, who calmly collected the mail. Her eyes bulged. "Uh, Dai. The Pokemon Rangers want you to head over to Driftveil City". Dai panicked. He knew this day would come, his life in isolation, in a burnt pile of straw, was about to fade. The Pokemon Rangers was one of the branches of the Pokemon Armed Forces. The job of the Rangers is to set up defensive outposts in the event of a major war breaking out.

He scrambled around the house, picking up water, food, anything of value, and tucked it in a little handbag. He strolled out of town, joining the other children in the trek to Driftveil.

Being the big pig he is, he quickly had to take a rest on some steps. He stood up again and was met with a shout. He cowered in fear. No way was this happening. His bully from elementary school, a Dratini, gripped him by his legs. Dai snapped, slapping Dratini, stunning him for a brief moment. In this brief moment, Dratini loosened his grip. Dai paced the ground with his feet, ready for anything. Dai wrapped his arms around Dratini's neck. Dratini scrambled, his tail swept across his legs, knocking Dai onto the floor. After this quick encounter, Tepig was sprawled on the ground, physically beaten down. Dratini took this moment to unleash his toxins, leaving Tepig paralyzed. Dratini cracked his neck and rolled down, making sure to slap Tepig with his tail for good measure.

Tepig took a while to recover. He ran across town, squeezing his way into the narrow pathway leading out of the only exit.

After what felt like an eternity, Dai discovered a whimpering Pokemon on the side of the road. The whimpering pokemon had a mask for a head and looked out of place, like if he was a dinosaur. The crying pokemon introduced himself as Theo, and that he was one of the last Shieldon alive. Those words stung Dai, and he felt his heart sink and his skin shake. His comforting skills weren't the best, but eventually, he got it into Theo's thick skull that everything will be alright, and that they're a team. Dai denoted themselves as Team Forge, named after a mix of Fire and Steel.

Theo realized that today was going to be a good day.
