I started walking to the other room where I was supposed to have class after the current break. My mind was going crazy, I was scared to go to class, to sit, to go to lunch. With who will I seat?  I mean, how the day was going so far I was probably going to end up eating in the bathroom, which wasn't bad because they were really perfect, but still, who wouldn't prefer some social interaction?

I walked to the end of the class and picked a spot that was by the window, people were still outside in pretty picnic tables perfectly organized, their food looked really good. I realized I had barely eaten all day, stress and anxiety made me feel full. I tried eating an apple that I had in my bag but I only managed to get a few bites in my stomach. I hated wasting food so I packed it back in the Zip-lock bag hoping I could eat it later.

When I don't eat well I faint, and we all know there's a limited amount of embarrassments per day, we really don't want to go further the limit.

People started to arrive in the classroom, some of them stared others didn't even notice my existence.  All of a sudden a girl sited beside me, she was really pretty. Dark brown curly hair, chocolate skin that matched her eyes.

"Hello" - She had a very calm and outgoing voice, with a perfectly white smile. As if my self-esteem could be any lower.

"Hey I'm Zoe"

"Yeah honey I know. Great talk in the bathroom with Claire" -  Oh shit.

"Oh god, you were there?"  My face cringed of embarrassment.

"Yeah, you should've seen her face after you left. It was amazing, I'm Leïa by the way" I let out a small shy laugh.

"Nice to meet you"  I smiled

"So how do you like the school so far? never mind, that was a stupid question, I know it's awful. I was new too" okay Zoe, new friend alert. DO NOT RUIN THIS

"Really?! How long ago?"

"About a year and a half, I moved here with my dad from Manchester"

"Oh, that's nice" she made a are you serious? face

"Not at all, my dad..." She was interrupted because the teacher had just walked in, everyone stood up again. Is this a thing here?

"I'll tell you about it at lunch" She whispered as we all sat back again

YAY!! no bathroom-eating for me.

The class started, the teacher called name by name so each one of us could pick up our iPads for the class, yeah no paper just fricking iPads, how much did this school cost???  oh well, at least we're saving some trees.

For some reason, no one chatted in class. It was complete silence, no one used their phones either, they were all very serious and concentrated. The three hours of class were painfully long, especially since it was physics and chemistry. A small beep sounded indicating that class was finally over. This school couldn't even have the normal bell ring. All the class stood up again and it was only when the teacher left the room that chatter and phone notifications started to sound.

"Let's go darling" Leïa said smiling. I smiled back and grabbed my bag as I followed her.

We smalled talked on our way to the cafeteria, but as soon as we entered it was more like a restaurant, there were butlers everywhere, they even had a pastry shop and a salad bar. This is insane, I can't wait to see the library.

We sat close to the window,  the view was mesmerizing, a few seconds after one of the butlers came to give us the menu of the day

"So... you never finished telling me about your dad thing"

"Oh yeah, well it's very complicated my dad is a wonderful dad, a wonderful person really, he just has this tiny little issue. He thinks he's found his soulmate, and she's like a waitress... I know what you're thinking. It's soo embarrassing"

Wait...what? I'm definitely not thinking that. At all

"That wasn't really my first thought..."

" But it gets worst..."

I suddenly saw Claire approaching us. with a smile

"Oh god, not again..." I said in a low voice. Leïla turned around to see what I was talking about and as soon Claire met her gaze, her face turned red, like tomato red, she stopped walking for a moment and then quickly went in the opposite direction.

"Well, that was weird..." I said as Leïla turned back around.

"Not really, she avoids me in school all the time"

"Why?"

"I'm her stepsister"

Danielle Herrington as LeÏla Harris
