"There used to be six of us.... Now it's just me." I looked at him in the eyes, I could see a hint of guilt hiding behind the vast blue-grey of his eyes. I had only just met him, but I figured I could trust him. However, no one can ever trust a survivor until you find out how they survived. Like I said, there used to be six of us, most of them them were killed off by infection, some died in a blood bath created by themselves. I tried so hard to help them but nothing seemed to work, so I got out of there before they could get to me.
"How'd you survive?" He asked, his bright blonde hair swaying in the wind.
"I-I uh don't know exactly, I guess I'm immune or something." I replied with a shrug. I knew I couldn't trust him enough just yet to tell him about my gift. I don't know how I got it either. My gift isn't much of a gift, it's not like a present its more like a superpower. I can turn almost anything into stone with a wave of my hand. But the problem is, I don't know how to control it and I mostly forget about it.
We stood in silence for awhile, looking at our surroundings\ the forest, trees as tall as New York skyscrapers, the smell was like wet dirt and pine needles. I looked up at him, he had his arms crossed over his chest, there was dried blood cracked all over his skin. It covered his fingernails and trailed all the way up to his neck. His shirt was torn at the shoulder, also caked in blood, his arms were scraped and scratched. He favored his left leg, putting more weight down, his legs had scratches and his khaki shorts were tearing. Now that I look more closely at him, he doesn't seem as trustworthy as I thought. I pulled my long, straight strawberry blonde hair over my shoulder and crossed my arms, I closed my eyes, I could feel my long eyelashes flutter against my cheeks and took a deep breath to gather my thoughts.
