I'm the girl who tried, I'm the girl who you pushed and stomped over, I'm the girl who you bullied so hard that she had unrealistic visions in her mind, I'm that girl. I'm Katy, a twelve-year old girl who is destined to find herself. A lot of people think I'm too quiet and mysterious, I'm not. Listen to my story and I am probably the opposite of that.
It was the 24th of July 2006, my moms funeral.
My mom is my hero, she had done everything for me, no matter how hard I cried, I would always think of her sitting right next to me and cuddling me for hours, she was just like me, perky and overwhelming. She died of cancer, to be precise, lung cancer. She didn't smoke, she didn't drink, she didn't do drugs, she had the most beautiful curly black hair, with pale skin, no acne and sparkling blue eyes that lit up your day. She was perfect! She was perfect to me, my dad and my little sister, Sophie. She was diagnosed when I was 5, she had fought and battled cancer, she had won until it came back, why her? Why not me, I'd rather die than her. Life's not fair.
My mom always said,
"No matter how much you give up, you never get the better of yourself!"
I stuck by that no matter what, no matter how depressed I was, over the past 2 years I was depressed and I was always cutting myself, it was torture but I couldn't help myself, and the bullying wasn't helping. At my moms funeral, I couldn't speak, it's like my words were just jammed at the back of my throat and they weren't coming up, I couldn't stop crying, the pain wasn't ending, I just wanted to be with her, her by my side, I didn't want to live anymore, my dad or my sister didn't know about anything. Nobody did, I didn't have the courage, the bravery to talk to them, not been my bestfriends about it, they think I'm just still a normal girl with a normal life, but inside, I'm torn apart, like my bones have just broke in a thousand places. I couldn't help crying myself to sleep every night, not talking to anyone, my grades were dropping, my eyes were permanently red from all the crying.
Authors note
