"So you wanna know something both surprising and sad? Mermaids were also banished to the Isle of the Lost. Only the ones from Neverland though, Ariel's kingdom was allowed into Auradon. I know it's like what the actual hell right? All because a couple of them "tried" to drown Wendy they were banished. We aren't evil and we definently don't belong here. Especially since we can't leave our little lagoon that is now filled with trash," Marnie went on about our woes as mermaids to a passerby, she was explaining so much you'd almost think it was exposition for a story.

"Marnie will you give it a rest I am so tired of the same old stories," you pleaded. She shot you a look as the man walked away.

"Come on Y/N! I was so close that time!" She exclaimed.

"Marnie, you know no one is going to fall for us. No one has fallen for a mermaid for years, especially if it's one of us," you sighed and slowly sank back under the water. You couldn't help but wonder what it must have been like, back when mermaids were seen as something beautiful, dangerous, and majestic. When men would follow the sound of a mermaid singing only to end up drowning. It must have been incredible. You picked up your comb from a piece of rock jutting out. Swimming your way back to the surface you started to think of an old sea shanty your mother taught you. She said it was her go to song to lurer men.

As you settled on the boulder in the middle you started to sing as you combed your hair. "Upon one summers morning, I carefully did stray, down by the Walls of Wapping, I met a sailor gay." You closed your eyes and saw your mother singing the song with you.

"Conversing with a young lass, Who seem'd to be in pain, Saying, William, when you go, I fear you'll ne'er return again. My heart is pierced my Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold, there is nothing can console me, but my Jolly Sailor Bold. His hair it hangs in ringlets, His eyes as black as coal, My happiness attend him, Wherever he may go. From Tower Hill to Blackwall, I'll wander, weep and moan, All for my jolly sailor, Until he sails home. My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold, There is nothing can console me, But my jolly sailor bold. My father is a merchant, The truth I now will tell, And in great London City, In opulence doth dwell. His fortune doth exceed, 300,000 gold, And he frowns upon his daughter, Who loves a sailor bold.'

'A fig for his riches, His merchandise and gold, True love has grafted my heart, Give me my sailor bold. My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold, There is nothing can console me, But my jolly sailor bold. Should he return in pov'rty, From o'er the ocean far, To my tender bosom, I'll press my jolly tar. My sailor is as smiling, As the pleasant month of May, And often we have wandered, Through Ratcliffe Highway." You suddenly realized someone was singing with you so you opened your eyes slightly and met the most beautiful blue ones. The both of you continued to sing as you swam towards him.

"Many a pretty blooming, Young girl we did behold, Reclining on the bosom, Of her jolly sailor bold." You arrived at the edge of the lagoon and he kneeled down. "My heart is pierced my Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold, There is nothing can console me, But my jolly sailor bold." You slowly reached out your hand and he did the same. As you wrapped your fingers around his you slowly pulled him lower. "My name it is Maria, A merchant's daughter fair, And I have left my parents, And three thousand pounds a year. Come all you pretty fair maids, Whoever you may be, Who love a jolly sailor, That plows the raging sea." You continued to pull him closer to the water as you lowered your body more and more. "While up aloft in storm, From me his absence mourn, And firmly pray arrive the day, He's never more to roam. My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold, There is nothing can console me, But my jolly sailor bold." You repeated the chorus one last time your mouth almost submerged in the water when something broke his trance and he jumped back.
