I was waiting at the kitchen table for what felt like forever. I shook my head at the thought of my brother taking more time to get ready than his sister.

I have a simple sense of style, it's always dresses or beige coats on top of shirts and tight jeans. I really prefer modesty, even in clothes.

Today I was wearing a simple, cream-colored maxi dress and let my hair out and put it all together at the left side. I had small braids on the right side. Makeup? I didn't wear much, except a little bit of foundation to cover some small, pink spots and highlighter, with a bit of mascara and a pink lipgloss. I really prefer natural.

My brother entered the room suddenly, with a grin on his face.
"Sorry, I took so long. Takes time to look this good." He says as he runs his right hand through his hair.

I sigh, making him a chicken-salad sandwich and getting orange juice out of the fridge, placing it infront of him.

"Okay, hurry up, you big baby. We have approximately 13 minutes." I tell him, looking at my phone.

I had missed notifications from my friends and some messages from the friend group but I couldn't be arsed to read them.

I didn't really have it in me to be late the first day of school, so I got up before him, picked up my bag and put on my new ballerina white shoes that Nate had bought for me yesterday. I really loved the fact that he bought me things I needed although I had never asked him to. It really showed that he cared, and in return I bought him things and did the small things such as making him breakfast.

"Wait up, grumpy-head!" He yells behind me with the sandwich in his mouth, as he puts on his shoes and places the bag over his shoulder. He finishes his sandwich, looks down at my shoes and grins.

"I knew you'd like them, it's pretty easy to buy things for you. I'm glad that you like simple things and aren't as picky as the bimbos out there." He bursts out as we walk to his car.

"Yeah... Well, you've dated some of the bimbos, so you're pretty stupid." I say with a smile on my face, crossing my arms.

He looks at me and smacks my head, in a joking manner, laughs and we sit in the car.

When we reach the school, the feeling of nostalgia kicks in. Feels like forever since I'd been here. We get out of the car, and I breathe in. It is hot outside. I look around and everyone is wearing shorts, shirts and tops. Me? I had covered my whole body except for my face, but the heat wasn't that bothersome.

I turn my head around, only to see my friends standing in a small gathering, everyone looking at their phones and talking. I look at Nate, and he's standing with his friends and some "bimbos", a term I never use but it had been stuck now. One guy really had my attention, but the moment he turned to my brother I couldn't see his face except for his light brown hair that kind of glowed in the sun. I ignored it and walked over to my busy friends.

"Heeeeeeeeeeeey!" Marina yells out, making me chuckle as I go to her for a hug.

"It feels like it's been forever since I saw you guys." I state and hug each one of them.

After a short while, the bell rings and we walk together inside. We laugh, exchange looks, talk and so much more in just 5-6 minutes.

They stop and look at their left, I stop too, looking where they looked. I didn't exactly see anything I was interested in. My friends started blabbering to themselves again and kept looking at Nate and his friends.

"What is it?" I ask, completely uninterested and let out a small sigh.

"It's your hot brother and his hot best friend, duh!" Aliyah almost yells out making the other girls chuckle and nod in agreement. I honestly felt nothing but disgust, so I stayed quiet.

They kept talking about hot they were, and how they would love for them to be noticed and a bunch of imaginary stories. I just rolled my eyes, looking down at my phone, and my eyes widen as I looked at the time.

"We are 2 minutes late!" I shout out to them, panicking.
They give me an are-you-serious look and sigh. I rolled my eyes, getting my books out of the locker and pushed them all forward for them to go to their classes.

I turn around and look at Nate as I heard his loud laugh, he looks at me and raises an eyebrow, and motions for me to go class, I give him an angry look and nod. I look at his right, and there he is. The boy with light brown hair. He is looking at me. I look back, expressionless. He turns around and continues talking with Nate.

What was that about? I don't let it bother me and spend the rest of the day, with my friends at school.
