"You sure that's a good idea, Annora." A metallic voice intones. Annora whips around at the sound of her name. Another person in a metal suit leans against the wall. Her heart pounds. Is this the guy who attacked her brother earlier? The shadows obscure the color of the suit.
"I have to find my brother." It is the only worthy response she can think of. The person in the suit steps out of the shadows revealing the coloring as pink not red. She feels her muscles relax a little bit, but she still does not let her guard down. She may never know if she can truly trust these Redeemers, not until she can really talk to her brother.
"Well I don't think that you have been looking all too hard." The person in the pink suit take another step closer, more as a way of intimidation than comfort.
"How would you know, Redeemer?" The last word comes out a bit harsher than she meant it.
"Hardly the way to speak to someone who has saved countless lives." Annora grits her teeth, this guy is really getting on her nerves, saving lives is not something you should brag about, rather something that should be seen as a necessity in this world. Pink suit continues, "And I am the one asking the questions."
"And who gave you the authority?" The words snap out of her mouth before she can even think of the consequences. Sometimes she wishes she shut her mouth, other times her spontaneous words can actually be helpful. She will just have to wait and see.
Pink suit seems taken back, as if he or she never expected that question. "Curiosity." The he or she answers. Annora smiles, what a peculiar answer. She laughs and a weird hissing sound, almost like static comes from the suit. She pauses and looks concernedly at the person in the suit. Pink suit notices Annora's gaze and asks, "What got a problem with laughter?" That noise was laughing? Annora starts giggling and the laughing fest starts all over again. Funny what adrenaline can do to you in moments like this.
Pink suit stops and says, "Okay, Annora, if you're so fixed on finding your brother, lets go find him, shall we?" Annora finally decides that there must be a girl in there somewhere under all the static. She has no other way to contact her brother and the Yellow Suit said to contact the nearest Redeemer. Now all she has to do is see if this Redeemer actually plans on taking her to her brother, or if... She doesn't know where else the Redeemer would take her. She knows practically nothing about the Redeemers. She would ignore them any time they were mentioned, if they are such great heroes, then why doesn't she ever see them? Its not like she has remained stationary for seven years, or that where ever trouble is, she seems to find it first. It doesn't help that the one time she actually needed them, they were never there. That taught her to never rely on anyone but herself, least of all her disappearing family
Annora stops abruptly. What is she doing? Finding answers? Why would her brother only pop up now? A memory that she has attempted to suppress for so long, resurfaces bubbling up from the very box that she vowed never to open again...
It was a dark night, wind was howling, lighting flashing, thunder rolling, and she was afraid. The noises were all too loud, she would never be able to tell if the dangers the rest of the world had to offer had snuck in unnoticed. If she went to sleep, she could catch the Synthetic Plague and die before she ever knew what hit her. A robot could sneak in and decide that her life would be one less human that it needed to defeat on the earth. The man could come. The man who claims to have taken everything but this city, a man with no rival and no qualms of killing a little girl in her sleep. Perhaps she should never have asked Malcalm for all those stories. A huge clap of thunder rattled the windows of her room. She screamed and ducked under the covers, any hopes of falling asleep extinguished. Something burst through the door and ripped her covers aside and she screamed again.
