I pushed open the door of the storage room with all my might. Mounds of books and papers blocked the entrance. I walked through the organized yet chaotic mess, trying to find my way around the maze of a room.

"Hello?" I called out. I heard something fall and a sharp shout of pain following it, coming from the other side of the room.

"W-who's there?" an anxious voice stuttered out.

"Olivia. I'm a Warrior, station 4." I walked over to where the voice seemed to be coming from and saw frizzy brown hair stick out from behind a book. She flipped through the pages of the book she was holding.

"Olivia May Hamilton. Age 17. Arrived eight and a half weeks ago. Height is 5'3". Hair is red and eyes are blue. Light freckles across the nose. Status is Warrior Station 4 and was recently promoted to Assistant Leader of Bexton O'Larry, Family is unknown, but is known to have connections with Annabelle Hart and Ryder Larkin." She looked over to see my stunned face. "Is it wrong?" she asked, confused, as she looked through her notes to find the error.

"No, that's what's scary about it," I mumbled.

"Sorry, but it's kind of my job," she said with a shrug.

"You seem to know everything about me, yet I don't even know your name," I said in a pathetic attempt of friendliness.

"It's Maisie." She gave me a small smile.

"Well... Hello, Maisie," I said, reaching out my hand. She returned the action with a timid grip.

"Is there something I can help you with?" she said, putting her hands in her pocket.

"I hate to get right to the point, but yeah, see, I don't have much time..." I said, trying to string together words into a complete sentence that would convey my thoughts without seeming too forward.

"You need my help."

I nodded.

"And, given the rumors about you that have been circulating, you need my help with something involving the prisoners. You don't like how they're being treated, do you? Neither do I."

"Yes, I need your help freeing two of them." I looked at the ground, already knowing her answer.

"Okay," she said. I looked up to see a grin spread across her face as she took off her glasses. "This is going to be quite the adventure."

I grinned. "First things first, we need a distraction. I was thinking the meeting that's going to be held today would suffice."

Maisie nodded in agreement. "The only problem is that there are usually at least one or two Warriors guarding the prison at a time. You won't be able to sneak in unnoticed."

Maisie grabbed a notebook and flipped to a specific page filled with charts and names in cursive handwriting. "Today, for example, is Tyler and Kyle."

"Could you switch them out and put me in?" I asked.

"Yeah, I guess." She erased their names as if that would magically make them know that they wouldn't have to guard the prison in a half hour. I started to plan what I would tell them: You've both completed your guarding hours for the week, and I haven't, so the Bookkeeper told us to switch. Maisie's voice snapped me out of my rehearsal.

"Anything else I should know before you carry out your genius plan? You do have a genius plan, right?"

"I don't know if it qualifies as genius. I'm gonna sneak in there, rescue them, and then..."

"Then?" Maisie asked. She looked skeptical, and I could tell she didn't think I'd be successful.

"I was thinking once I get them I can bring them here and you can record some of their information."
