Chapter One

10:30 A.M.

(Destination: Bustling Streets of New York City, New York)

Ava looked out the window of the taxi cab that was driving her to her dorm building. The building was only down the street from her college. She was glad that the building was close so she could just walk to school, she knew some college's dorms were a block away from the actual campus. As they drove down the streets of New York she was just taking in the sights, it was a beautiful city and she was so lucky she was able to actually move there.

Ava had worked her ass off to be able to pay for the move, it all payed off though, now she had a shot to live the life she always wanted and go for the career she's always wanted. Ever since she was a little girl she was always taking pictures. She loved it and she knew that it wasn't just a hobby, she wanted to make money and live off of her pictures. Throughout high school she would take pictures of weddings, engagement announcements, pregnancy announcements, and even graduation pictures as a side job. She got payed well for it too, the rest of the time she just worked at her local movie theater. She had a passion for photography, it was something she took the most pride in, and for her to even get into this college she must be doing something right.

The next thing Ava knew her taxi had pulled up to her dorm building. She barley got out of the car before the driver was already wanting to get paid and leave. The young woman took her bags out of the car, slowly to piss the driver off, and then paid the man. She shook off the interaction and hauled her things into the lobby of the building, it was packed in there. Other new students were packed around the receptionist's desk waiting to get assigned to their dorms, suitcases and boxes littered everywhere. Ava did her best to keep all her things in a pile near her so they didn't get mixed in with someone else's stuff. Despite the impending long wait ahead of her, the silver haired girl waited patiently to get her dorm number and key.

11:20 A.M.

(Destination: Dorm Building D, Dorm Room 48D)

After waiting fifty minutes Ava finally arrived to her dorm room, unlocking the door and stepping inside. It looked like she was the first one to arrive to the room so she choose what would be her side of the room. She piled all of her stuff on that side of the room and started unpacking. She hoped that whoever she was roomed with would get along with her, she always heard those horror stories of horrible roommates that you're forced to deal with for a semester. Each semester you can request for a new roommate if they're any problems or choose to stay with your already assigned roommate. She hoped she'd pick the latter next semester.

About ten minutes went by before Ava heard her door open up. Walked in a girl with short brunette hair with black glasses on, like Ava she also had a bunch of stuff with her. When the brunette saw Ava she paused her movements for a couple moments before giving Ava an awkward smile and wave.

Ava chuckled and waved back, "Hi I'm Ava. Ava Knight. You must be my roommate." She said politely introducing herself. The brunette cleared her throat before introducing herself, "Yeah that's me. I'm Lumen Lovelock." She said in a quieter, but friendly tone.

After the two young women introduced themselves they both focused on just unpacking their things and making a home out of their sides of the room. It was definitely an adjustment going from living with your parents in a house, to living in a room with a person you've never met. The two young women would soon realize that this change was a good one, it would bring two lifelong friends together.

Authors Note: Here's my first chapter! It's probably a little boring, but most books have to start out that way. It's a slow start, but once we get into it things will pick up.
