luna walked around camp after breakfast. percy had told her that she was supossed to train with him and one other cabin but she was never one for following the rules anyway. she put her hands in her pockets and wandered down to the beach. she satdown and kicked off her shoes feeling the warm sand between her toes. summer wasnt here yet but it was coming. she sighed and realised suddenly that she had forgotten to contact her mother. she hoped up, grabed her shoes, and ran for the big house. she didnt bother to knock and burst into chirons office only to find her mom sitting there talking to chiron. she scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion. her mom jumped up and hugged her.
"uh what are you doing here?" she asked dumbly
her mom chuckled and sat back down "chiron contacted me."
"but i thought only demigods could come through the border" she said remembering what annabeth had told her the night before at dinner.
"i am a demigod" her mom said with a mischievious smile. yeah i definately get my rebelious side from her luna thought and then blinked realising what her mother had said
"wait what?"
"im a daughter of hecate" her mom explained calmly
"hecate is the goddess of magic and your mother can manipulate the mist, the thing that blocks the mortals from seeing the way things really are, thats why you never experienced any monster attacks before yesterday. which is extremely rare for such a powerful demigod." chiron said.
luna nodded and sat down in a chair next to her mom.
"so am i like three quarters god then?" she asked curiously
chiron blinked "well i suposse so" he said thoughtfully
luna turned to her mom "i can stay right?" her mom ruffled her hair
"of course you can stay. ive already made the arrangements with chiron. ill come round about once a week to check on you" she smiled and then her face turned serious "but no quests" she looked at chiron "i mean it"
chiron sighed exasperatedly "we have been over this Mia" he said using my moms first name "i have no control over whether or not she gets a quest."
I stared at my mother. from what id heard from the seven and nico i didnt even want to go on a quest but it made me angry that she thought she could make that desicion for me.
"its not your choice mother." i said and stood up heading back to the beach.
i sighed as i walked. i had overreacted but she just made me so angry sometimes. she thought she could control everything about me life when she wasnt even their most of the time. she was usually working. i sighed and sat back down on the beach and watched the waves. i heard footsteps
"go away mom" i said still upset but more upset with myself than her
"im not your mom" she heard a familiar voice reply. i felt him sit next to me
"go away nico im not in the mood" i muttered and refused to look at him
"whats wrong someone scrach your bike?" he teased
i glared at him "not that i know of but i asked you to leave me alone" she said angrily
"and i asked what was wrong." he replied starring back at her
"just go away. we are not friends. you dont have to worry about me." she said back
"i was just trying to help" he started to protest but she cut him off
"I DONT NEED YOUR HELP!'
"fine then" he said and stood up to leave. she could see in his eyes that she had actually hurt him and felt bad instantly
"nico i-" she started to apologize
"save it" he said and turned around and walked away.
she sighed and watched him walk away and the run headfisrt at a wall shadow traveling away. who knows where hes going she thought glumly to herself. suddenly she really didnt want to be on the beach. she got up and walked to the cabins entering the poseidon cabin. she chose a bunk on the oposite side from the unmade bed she assumed to be percys and sighed laying down on it. she realised she probably just ruined the chance to make a friend of nico and was suprised how much that upset her. she cried into her pillow untill she fell asleep.
