Since my Initiation took longer than expected, we started out the day in third period. When I first walked in, I was thoroughly surprised to see that my teacher was Amelia. "Amy, hey! This class is gonna be e--"

"It's Mrs. Amelia to you, David."

"You're married..?"

"Yes, to Tyra."

"Okay..."

"I'm just kidding." she smiled. "This is an easy class for your first two years, so you're going to pass easily." I turned around to say something to Leah, but she was already in her seat. There weren't any chairs or desks. Everyone just had a floor mat and a toy doll. At least, I thought they were toys. Then one of the small animals burped.

"Okay," I thought. "This is going to be interesting." I took a seat next to Leah and looked at her companion. It was a... Cyclops? I didn't even know those come in miniature sizes, or that they existed. Amy came up to me, holding a purple velvet bag open. "Reach in and take out your egg."

I did so without any questioning. I put my hands into the bag and pulled out a solid white egg. "Hey, can mammals, like Leah's Cyclops, hatch from eggs? How would that work? Mammals don't have the correct snout shapes to properly break an eggshell. Unless they develop an egghorn like certain dr--" It was a good thing I was cut off, I would've gone on for days. My nerd side had actually slipped out.

"The answer is yes, David, mammals can hatch." said Amy. She took her bag, which looked much too small to have held the rather large egg that now sat in my lap.

The rest of that class was pretty much me sitting with my egg. After that class we had advanced weapons training. Luckily, Leah wasn't the only person I knew there. Jason, Don, and Drew all took it.

The first thing I noticed when I entered the class was Jason and Drew butting heads. Apparently, Drew was scolding Jason for the fight with Don because Don was dating someone Drew was close with, whoever that was. And, from the looks of it, Jason left all his flucks to give in his other pants.

"Don't go around fighting my friends anymore, Child." Said Drew, who was barely two years older.

"He's the one that started it. You should be lecturing him." Replied Jason.

"He started it? He was defending Tyra!"

"No, he was being a douchebag for no reason."

"I'm still up for a round two, Jason," interrupted Don, who suddenly got up and looked at the boy. I stepped between all of them, the only thing between Don, Jason, and Drew being my body.

"Hey, save your energy. Reggie might have more goons or something." I looked at Don, who seemed to let it go. Jason still seemed to not care. The violence ended just in time, because a teacher suddenly entered the room. The teacher was a male, tall and thickly built. He must have been half giant, or Orc. Or maybe he was a hardcore bodybuilder. His eyes locked and Jason and I, his gaze sending a chill down my spine.

"Are you two the new recruits that put a gave that one kid and his crew a beat down?" I could barely contain my laughter. The man had a hearty, Warrior of the Ol' Days accent, but his vocabulary was so... Modern. Maybe I was the only one that found it funny.

"Yes sir!" I said, trying my best to seem manlier. My voice was a bit deeper, my chin held up high, and my chest puffed out a bit. It made me feel a bit less small compared to the teacher.

"Good. I want you two to have a spar. Right now. I have to assess your skills. That battle wasn't good enough for me to get a good guess of your natural skill."
