Quick A/N: This was written as I was waiting for Wattpad to come back online. I lost a story that was unpublished but I'd been working hard on it and instead of trying to re-write that story, I wrote this. Hope you like it :)

"Love at first sight isn't real," I said walking backwards. I looked into the eyes of my best friend Jake. "It was made up by the writers of romance novels. Something people would dream about having."

"It is so real. My parents fell in love at first sight," he replied.

"Your parents had been working together for the previous five years. They would have seen each other a hundred times. They would have talked to each other before they actually fell in love."

"Okay, how about this?" he said and he stopped walking. I stopped as well and walked to where he was standing. "I fell in love with you when I saw you for the first time."

I laughed but I stopped quickly when I saw his face. "No, you can't be serious."

"I'm not joking Beth. When you walked into class on the first day of year 1, you were wearing a pink dress with matching pink ribbons in your braids. And you talked to everyone. When you laughed too much, your cheeks went pink."

"So what, there's probably a million pictures from that day around my house. How many times have you seen them?"

"You spilled orange juice on me and your cheeks went redder because you were embarrassed. There's no pictures of that." He shrugged his shoulders.

"You don't forget somebody spilling orange juice on you on the first day of school," I argued. I could see in his eyes, those gorgeous blue eyes of his, that he was telling the truth. But I didn't believe in love at first sight because it had the power to destroy you. Falling in love without getting to know someone was the dumbest way you could get hurt. Even dumber than getting too close to a train track.

"What is it going to take to make you believe that I have loved you for the last ten years? That everytime I liked a girl, I compared her to you?"

"Nothing, because love at first sight isn't real."

"Then explain why I still love you after getting to know you." I shrugged my shoulders and continued walking down the street.

"Because I'm amazing."

"That you are," he said, smiling to himself.
