"I wish that everything can go back to how it was" I say with blowing out the candle in my dark bedroom.

My name is Julian and I am the son of an elementary teacher. You must think that would be pretty cool. You would think I would be able to get away with stuff and have a relaxed elementary school life but that was not the case I had to live up to the impossible standards set by my mom. It's all A's or nothing and if I didn't have a clean behavior report lets just say it was not fun. Though do not get me wrong I do love my mom but there are times I just want to lay in my bed and just think about possibilities even though I know I am living the best one, well one of the better ones.

"Shit it's midnight" I whisper harshly. Tomorrow is the first day at my new school, in a total different district than where my mom works. So I am scared out of my mind. How do you start 7th grade with no friends? I wonder but I just keep saying "It will be okay. Everything will be fine".

"Time to wake up!" my mother says happily while turning on the blinding lights of my room. I just respond with a grunt.

"I know you didn't want to move school but you have to" She says while coaxing me out of bed.

"Fine" I say and go to get ready in the bathroom.

The ride to school with my mom is quiet and I keep dozing off. I just hope if I close my eyes it will turn into a big joke and she is taking me to the school where all my friends would be. But my hopes were crushed when I opened my eyes and I was at this foreign school with these new people. I look around and realize it is time to get out of the car. I swallow hard and get out of the car.

I follow the flow of people to the gym. They are separated boys on one side and girls on the other so I sit on the boys side obviously. I sat there constantly check my phone while choking back tears I was alone for the first time and that realization made me feel like dying.

I was apparently in the area that was last to leave so I was almost late to class. Late on the first day is not the type of introduction I want. I do make it in time and I find my seat by this girl with long straight brown hair. I sit there trying to breathe but I can't so I ask to go to the bathroom and so I do I run there. I sit down on the toilet and just start to sob silently I later found out that this was a panic attack. I clean myself up and hurry back because no one wants to be gone suspiciously long.

"Now that's everyone is back let's do one of my favorite first day activities. You find someone you do not know and find out three facts about them," The teacher chimes surprisingly chipper for a Monday and the first day.

The girl next to me with the long brown hair stands up.

"Hi I'm Orchid and you are new" She beams. I just stare at her because she is taller than everyone else in the class.

"I'm Julian and yeah" I say shyly.

"First days are rough so stay with me okay" She states. I just kind of nod in response confused how someone I just met is ready to be nice to me.

We both have the next class together gifted also known as the class for people with higher IQ's. So I sit by her and the teacher comes in along with the other students. Mrs. Stella is the human personification of happiness. She easily becomes my favorite teacher and starts to watch out for me.

On the way out of her class I don't know if she could tell I was having trouble but she stopped me and said "Things always get better just make it through the day." I smile in response.

Next was P.E. which I was scared for because I am not athletic at all. They separated us by boys and girls again so I was alone once more. I make it through the class and then we went to lunch, but Orchid asked me not to sit with her and her friend so I sat at a table by myself ready for this day to end. The rest of they just included welcome back and get to know you games.

"How was your day hun?" My mom inquires.

"Fine"

"Wow that sounds like a thrilling day I love all the details" My mother replied sarcastically.

"You know I try, and I did survive." I say with a soft laugh because I know if I roll my eyes I will regret my life choices.

"Can It get any better than that?" She laughs.

The next morning I hear my mother get up so I try to fake being sick.

"Well that sad considering it is your second day" She knows what is happening.

"Yeah I was looking forward to the day" I respond trying to sound sick.

"Well good thing father is home today"

"Yeah I know"

"Which means you can go and if you feel bad just text him and he will come get you"

"Wait what" I say shocked.

"Yep so get ready" I want to know why she is happy in the morning because I apparently missed that gene.

Later that day I tried to text my father but my phone didn't send it. Mrs. Stella must have understood what was happening because she offered to let me stay in her class for P.E. and I tell her everything. She nodded for a while.

"Sounds like that wish didn't work" She says finally.

I nod saying "Yeah I guess it was a wish that's not worth a million words."
