"Ruby did you cheat on Liam?"

"Ruby what happened between you and Liam?"

"Ruby who are you going home with tonight?"

Sometimes being famous isn't everything. Everything is in the media. One slip and reputation is ruined.

Lights flashed, blinding my friends and I as made our way out of the club. I couldn't even go and enjoy a night out with my friends. Everywhere I went paparazzi followed, each one of them shouting personal questions. Sometimes I really did hate being famous. I frantically pulled my hand up towards my face so I could see where I was going. I loved my job, going on tour singing to thousands of fans whilst they all sung back to me, music videos, red carpets. But the paparazzi, they are assholes, they ruin the whole thing. I mean who even pays them anyway, they literally just stalk people?

The truth is, I did cheat on Liam. It isn't something I am proud of but he wasn't innocent either. It started with Liam coming home smelling of somebody else's perfume, this happened a couple of times a week. Eventually this turned into him coming home late every night, texts from this Amber girl, lipstick stains on his clothes. This happened for months whilst I sat at home waiting for him to arrive, pretending that one day he'll love me again. To this day he still doesn't understand how worthless he made me felt. I cheated and thats when I realised I shouldn't be trapped in a relationship where we both weren't happy. I told Liam and we decided we'd tell the media we fell out of love and it was mutual. This is a story I hid from my friends, except Jesse Lingard he was the only person I could trust. It wouldn't look good as I was meant to be a role model to my millions of followers.

Chloe slammed the door beside me showing she was as stressed as I was. "I hate the paparazzi. They really need to find new jobs because I'm pretty sure stalking is against the law. They're such creeps!" I let out a small laugh before turning to her giving a small smile and leaning my head back and sighing. I pulled out my iPhone and went on snapchat. I was tipsy and all I wanted was to talk to my best friend Jesse, he was off training for the World Cup that was in a couple of weeks. I hadn't seen him in a while, I missed him.  I put on the angel filter and sent him a photo, after posting a photo I had taken earlier in the night on instagram.

"Don't let it get you down, Rubs" Maddy said turning around from the front seat before starting the car.

"I just wish they would keep out of my business." I replied, done with the conversation.

Silence filled the car for a couple of minutes. "So who are you going to get to feature on your new track?" Olivia asked, she always hated the silence.

That was how we were both different, whenever I could have alone time or be in the silence I was grateful. It was peaceful and gave me time to think.

Maddy looked at me in the mirror as she continued driving. "Obviously Drake, then I can meet him. Then we can fall in love, get married and have children."

I just rolled my eyes, Maddy was seriously obsessed with Drake she would always find a way to bring him up in conversation. I on the other hand was trying to set her up with Jesse. They would be so cute together. They were so alike, wanting to always have a conversation, always joking on social media. They problem was they were both too scared to admit they found each other attractive.

"So you're telling me you wouldn't like to work with Drake?" she fired back.

"I'm not famous enough for Drake" I defended.

Then my phone buzzed, Jesse had sent me a snapchat back. I smiled to myself, he honestly was the best friend anybody could wish for.

"Who's so important that you have to smile at your phone Ruby?" Olivia teased.

"Just Maddy's boyfriend" I smirked and winked at her as she made eye contact with me in the mirror. I loved annoying her.

"HAHA, thats real mature of you Ruby. Sorry to break it to you but I'm seeing someone" Maddy responded sarcastically before giving me a death glare.

"So you're the only single one Rubs. Maybe you should start dating again, it has been 5 months since your breakup with Liam. Isn't it boring being alone? How about we get you a footballer, as you enjoy being in Jesse's company so much?" Chloe added with a little giggle, I honestly thought she had gone to sleep.

"Hey, I enjoy being alone. I get a big bed, more food. Im happy. I get more food." I laughed

"Maybe we can get you can to meet someone at the World Cup while you're visiting Jesse. We could set you up on a little date" Olivia turned round smirking.

"Yeah, well good luck with that guys" I yawned, shattered from the nights events.

(Note: Hey guys! This is more of an introduction of the book. I wanted to set the scene and give you guys an idea of Ruby as a character. Its a pretty short chapter. Trent will be in the next chapter.)
