Hearing the door slam from downstairs, Ella Closed her laptop and opened herself up to the outside world. Ella was a bit of a school addict but nobody besides her parents and her best friend Jake knew that. Contemplating between going downstairs to welcome her mom home and opening her laptop back up to her favorite lecture, she finally made up her mind that she needed a break from learning. Taking a quick hop off the bed she made her way across the room to her hoodie. Her dad gave her this hoodie a few years back, and ever since that day she has never left her room without it. Ella couldn't help but shutter at the thought of that memory. She had come home one day from a long day of lectures only to find her dad in the kitchen with another woman. She panicked and ran out of the house. Later that night her parents spoke with her over dinner about the incident. The next week her dad and all of his things were gone. Every day since then her and her mother have grown closer. They were all they needed in this world.  She finally built up enough courage to walk downstairs to her waiting mother.

"Ella dear, it is so glad to see you without that computer in your hand. "her mother greeted her with a warm smile and hug.

"mother you know how much I love listening to people talk about things. "

Just as Ella was about to go into detail about what things she had learned about today her mother received a call. Her mother quickly dismissed herself and left Ella alone in the room.

They were some of lyonia's most important people, so it is only normal for her mom to get calls during this part of the day. Lyonia is a small planet that rotates just on the other side of Calisto. Calisto was founded by the earthling a few centuries back, but they haven't been able to find us yet. Thanks to my family's state of the art defense system we are able to stay hidden from every other threatening life form that exists. Getting lost in thought I started to roam the hallways of our home. Tracing my fingers along the silver walls I took in the views of our world. As far as you could see there were buildings as tall as mountains and as beautiful as oceans. The sky was a mesmerizing shade of purple while the sun shined its red rays down on the people below. This planet really was beautiful, yet it held so many secrets that she only dreamed of knowing. A searing burn on her arm broke Ella out of her trance. A deafening scream left her lips as she was crippled to the floor. Her mother ran into the hallway to find her daughter screaming in pain. She ran to her side and sang her the lullaby that she had been singing to her for her entire life. For the good part of the hour they were curled up on the floor together.  Once Ella had regained her strength her mother pulled her up and into the spare room. She was never allowed in her before, so she was curious as to what was going on.

Her mother looked at her with a sad smile.

"it has begun my dear. Our defense system is failing, and we have been found. Your father ran some tests on you when you were little. You are the key to this planets survival. The mark on your arm will protect you from here on out. "Ella let this sink in for a minute. She didn't believe what was being said. She glanced down and found the beautiful symbol for her family's name on her arm. Fighting back the tears she took a deep breath and observed the room. The walls were a pale shade of blue while the ceiling and floor were just a plain white. On the far wall were two metal doors and in the middle of the room there was a big metal ball. She looked at her mom with uncertainty in her eyes. She didn't understand what was going on, but she knew that whatever it was, it was going to change her for the better.

"Ella, I have some friends on earth, they are going to protect you. You need to listen to them okay. "She reached into her pocket and pulled a crystal out of it. Placing it in Ella's hands she kissed her forehead. Ella wiped away a stray tear and pulled her mother close.

"I'll come back for you mother. I swear it"

Ella took a look at the pod. After a moment of hesitation, she pressed her hand up against the side of it.  A moment of beeps later and the pod was open. All Ella had to do was climb inside and shed be safe. That meant leaving everyone behind, but it is what she knew she had to do.

Blowing her mom, a kiss Ella closed the pod. Not knowing how to navigate this thing she started to panic. She quickly calmed down after realizing it was pre-programed to be on autopilot. Getting ready for a long journey ahead, Ella closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
