Mason was a strange kid. Tall to average height, didn't smile much, constantly looked like he just woke up. I'm sure he was an insomniac, and I'm positive he was a genius. As much as he didn't care for school, he sure did excell in it. Thing is... He didn't care for school, so he didn't accept his invitation to Harvard when he was 14, and didn't skip any grades because, and I quote: "If I'm gonna win at a competition there at least has to be some sort of challenge to compete in". Of course, him referring to school as the challenge, and GPA as the competition. He seemed upset that a 4.0 was the highest you could get.
Mason is 17 now, a high school drop out. Yea, I know, huge plot twist. But trust me, no one was surprised. Especially not me, his 'little sister'. I don't even want to get into how I'm older than him, but long story short, I'm 18, and my name is racheal. Nobody takes much interest in me in the family, and I don't blame them. Besides, Mason seems to be making up a storm with every move he makes now of days. Just yesterday I saw him doing some weird code on the computer, and I asked him what he was doing. "Stealing secret government documents". I'm not even sure if that was a joke or not. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he ran a meth lab under our house in some top secret bunker.
He's an interesting guy, I'll give him that. He isn't going to college like me though. I wasn't born an emo genius like my brother, unfortunately. But, I was born with a will to learn and create! Aspire to do what the uninspired can't! Strive and become wealthy off of my average intelligence. Then again, I always wondered what it would be like to know everything he knows. He sits around all day focused on something on his computer with a bottle of water and a bowl of raisins. He doesn't talk, express emotions, or anything. He just concentrates on whatever he's doing. And trust me, I've tried to figure out what he's been doing, but he somehow locked his computer to where it is impossible to unlock it unless you are him. He even takes pictures of people who try and fail to unlock it. Know how I know? He called me as soon as I got an incorrect password and told me "the password has 300 characters, good luck." And hung up. He didn't seem phased or anything. He said it as if he was serious and daring, with no reluctancy. I don't know where he was at the time either. It began to upset me, and being as smart as he is, you'd think he'd realise it. He's about as emotionless as Kirito from SAO, and would probably embody that character in the same circumstances.
He's my brother though, so I still love him. He makes it difficult though.
I'm writing this because I feel like nobody else wants to hear it. My friends think it's lame to talk about your brother, and that I should be upset about something else. And my mom, well... she feels the same way, and she's just as clueless about mason as me. And my dad? Well, he's dead. Long story I'll tell another day.
But to sum it up: I'm worried about him, but I'm sure he doesn't care. He's too preoccupied with something else to pay any attention to me.
