A/N: sorry if this sucks, but I'm getting a bit sick and my head hurts a whole lot, so please excuse me if things don't make any sense at all

"I can't see a damn thing.", Zayn whispered, following Jade as she lead the way.

"Aren't you supposed to be good in the shadows?", Jade whispers back, holding her gun up in a defensive position, looking every which way before taking each step forward.

"Yeah, but not in complete darkness!"

Once everyone finished the usual simulation earlier that day, the supervisors took them all to their next unexpected training simulator, except this one was real life and didn't require any sleeping or wires. Basically, they were all in groups of 2's (obviously meaning their Leadership partners ever since the first simulation), and they each had special suits and guns, and the objective was to shoot the other teams and make their way to the finish with the most amount of points at the end. So...it was just like a giant game of Lazer Tag, except only a bit more complicated, because the entire arena was a maze. A team get's a point for each surge of energy fired from their gun that hits another person's specialized armor, and obviously you lose a point when shot. To make it even more difficult, the shots fired from the gun also simulate an electric shock that can paralyze someone for up to a minute.

"Will you just stop whining, and focus?" Jade really doesn't want Zayn to take this 'game' lightly. She has a feeling that the riddle Simon gave her was pertaining to this situation exactly, and if her suspicions are correct, she really wants to ace this test.

They hear footsteps creeping towards them, so they quickly lean up against one of the barriers of the maze, and hold their breaths as they wait for the footsteps to pass. However, the noise abruptly stops, and Jade and Zayn share a glance as they listen carefully.

"I think someone might be over here!", a voice whisper-shouts to their partner, and Jade rolls her eyes. Have they learned nothing? If you think someone is up ahead, you don't fucking announce yourself!

"You go ahead, and I'll cover you.", the partner's voice whispers back, and Jade raises an eyebrow at Zayn, silently asking him if he's ready. The boy smirks a bit before nodding, so Jade moves herself as quietly as possible, positioning her gun so that it could stay hidden behind the barrier, but also made it parallel to the wall so she could make a direct hit once the idiot showed themselves.

Sure enough, that's what the boy did. Jade pulled the trigger once he came into view, and the boy yelped in pain before falling to the ground. His partner suddenly jumped out from behind the barrier, and Jade swiftly ducked right when Zayn pulled the trigger on his gun, sending a direct hit to the girl, causing her to fall to the ground as well.

More footsteps could be heard, and Zayn instantly grabbed Jade's wrist to lead her away from the area, he knowing that someone would be lured to the spot they were occupying due to all the commotion. Once he was satisfied that they were a good enough distance away from that area, he pulled them both down into a crouching position.

"That was fun.", Jade whispered, feeling the adrenaline start to pump through her veins.

Zayn chuckled, but nonetheless nodded his head, agreeing with the girl's random statement.

Once they calmed down a bit, they decided to start moving again, knowing they couldn't just sit around and wait all day. Jade once again lead the way, her head slightly leaning against the gun so she could have an eye looking through the scope at all times, being ready for any possible threats.

After going on like this for quite a while, Zayn decided to speak up, knowing he had to do it now before they were in real danger.

"Jade?", he whispers.
