It’s been nineteen years since the battle of Hogwarts. Nineteen years of rebuilding what was left by a tragic war. Nineteen years of letting go… moving on

“You love him don’t you” Harry whispered to Hermione nudging at Ron.

“He’s the father of my children. What do you expect me to say, Harry?”  She hissed under her breath Harry asked that question time and time again, getting various answers. But even as she indicated that she did love him Harry heard the doubt in her voice.

He slid closer to her and laced his fingers around hers just like as they always had before relationships complicated everything.

“Harry pleases… “She whispered

His touch even after all those years still sent an eye-popping high voltage shock to her system. She closed her eyes, fighting the urge to fall back into his arms.

He let go of her hand, signing so quietly only Hermione could hear.

“There’s no going back now, is there” he asked

“We had the chance to”

“But we wasted it away”

“I’m sorry”

He turned away from her. Hermione tugged at her sleeve of his coat until Harry faced her.

“Maybe someday…in some other time, in another place” she said, pressing her beaded bag into his palm. She turned away and bid Ginny goodbye. Harry slipped the bag into his coat pocket immediately.

In the confines of his room, that weary night, Harry took out the beaded bag. It seemed weirdly empty, light. He then reached inside the beaded bag and felt something cold, something metal.
