The Look

Something in his eyes captured my entire being. It was like they knocked the wind right out of me. I felt like I was staring at a piece of heaven. I was unable to move. He stared back at me in the most elegant way, as if nothing around him mattered, like the universe had stopped altogether as we stared into each others soul.

In the moment of a complete ethereal event, he walked towards me and introduced himself. "Hey I'm Drew! I see that you're going to be my new neighbor huh?"
Shocked at the fact he talked so smoothly, I wondered if that heavenly encounter when our eyes met was just something I made up in my head.
In utter repressed emotional abyss, I oddly found a few words to reply with. "Hey my name is Ashlyn and yeah I guess I am." Is that really all I could come up with?! "Yeah I guess I am." Talk about sheer humiliation, but he didn't seem to pay much attention to my awkward acquaintance. He swiftly walked closer to me and held out his hand for a friendly handshake. "Well nice to meet you Ashlyn, I guess ill be seeing you around." I then gently took grab of his hand and responded "Yeah I guess I'll be seeing you around." At that time I abruptly walked back into my apartment. I sat down on my couch just so I could recollect the enchanting encounter that had just happened. I thought to myself "did I just meet an angel?" His skin was so soft, his eyes the color of the deep ocean, his cheek bones and jawline were perfectly rigid. He spoke in such a calm and confident manner. Not to mention he smelled delightful, a scent that reminded me a little bit of Dolce & Gabbana. I began to wonder if the whole occurrence was my over active imagination playing tricks on me. How could someone be so confidently perfect? If all guys were like this in California then I may never move back home!

The next morning I woke up exhausted and sluggish. I felt like sleeping in my bed forever and never moving again. When I finally got the motivation to get up out of bed, I walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. "Jesus Christ! I look like a train wreck!" I muttered to myself. I still had make up on from the night before which was now smeared all over my face. My hair looked like a bird had been camping out in my head for the past year. I finally got a wash rag and cleaned my face, picked the crust out of my eyes and just threw my hair into a messy bun. I walked into my bedroom which at the time had clothes laying all over the floor and empty boxes building sky high. I picked up the first pair of yoga pants I saw and a T-shirt, even though I was quiet sure they were both dirty. I found a pair of old socks and jogging shoes then rushed to put them on. I knew that if I didn't hurry up that I was going to talk myself out of going on a run that morning.
I grabbed my pink Aztec designed water bottle and I was on my way. I opened the door to head outside my apartment and right there just one door over Drew was standing in the hall way. Coincidently he looked as though he was going on a morning jog as well. "Hey Ashlyn what's up!" He said. In shock that this was all happening again I went on to say "Nothing! About to go take a run on the board walk." With that being said I give myself credit for not stumbling on my words this time. "No way! You like running? I was just about to go out and do the same. You want some company?" . Of course I wouldn't deny myself the privilege of being seen in public with such a beautiful human being so I said "of course!"

Once we finally got outside it was miserably hot, not to mention the heavy humidity lingering in the air. I did not sign up for all this. When I told Drew that he could join me, it totally slipped my mind that when I work out I sweat more than a fully grown man. This was about to be a mortifying experience on my part.

We started off slow, but I could feel the sweat already building up on my forehead. "God it's so hot! I hope you don't mind if I take my shirt off" Drew said with a smart ass grin on his face. Is he crazy of course I wouldn't care, although he seemed like the type of guy that was used to never wearing clothes. He took his cut off tank top off and keep jogging. I was hot and bothered before he took his shirt off, this just made it ten times worse. My eyes widened at the sight of his completely perfect toned chiseled chest. In utter disregard that he was staring at me the whole time I was in awe of his flawlessness.

I looked up at him and he was smiling at the fact that he caught me checking him out.
"So Ashlyn what made you move here?" He said starting off a conversation. "There's a few reasons I guess but mainly because there's so much more opportunity here than where I did live. What made you move here? Or were you raised here?" Getting much better at keeping a conversation going with him. "No I haven't always lived here. I moved here to start off my music career, which hasn't been taking off as well as I'd hoped" astounded at the fact he was already perfect, AND he wrote his own music, made him so much more attractive, if that was even possible. "What kind of music are you into?" I asked. "It's hard to explain maybe one day I can show you." Drew answered. I didn't say anything back I just knobbed in satisfaction that he said "one day I can show you" which implied that we'd be spending more time together.

After an hour of running we stopped at a tiny cafe on the corner of our apartment complex. "Welcome to Buna Cafe can I help you?" The cashier said. "Uhh, yeah can I get a large mango smoothie?" Drew said back to the lady. Then turned to me and asked what I wanted. "Nothing I'm not hungry or thirsty. Thanks though." I responded. "Bull crap!" He yelled. Please don't tell me you're one of those girls that don't eat in front of guys." while cracking a slight giggle. "No." I said "I'm just not feeling anything right now. Maybe next time." Even though Drew was right, I was one of those girls. I didn't want to slurp down a large smoothie in front of such a good looking guy at least not on the first day! That would totally ruin my chances of him thinking I was attractive, if there even was a chance to begin with.

We slowly walked back to our apartments. It was only noon but I was beat by Drew and I's run in what at the time felt like Death Valley.
Drew walked me to my door. "Same time tomorrow right?!" He asked with enthusiasm. "Maybe, only if you show me some of your music." I said with what I thought to be a flirtatious grin. He smiled and walked back to his apartment.
