Before you start reading, first a little info. I published this story earlier on Quizilla with the name 'An useless love' but I wanted to publish it here on wattpad to, so if you saw this story on quizilla already, I didn't steal it, since it's mine :)
This is a Shikamaru and Kiba love story, so that means you can read this if you like them both, but also if you like just one of them, since I am splitting this story up in two different stories at the end, so you can chose whether you want to be with Kiba or Shikamaru in the end. This story starts in the middle of the second part of the Chunin exam's. Lidian is in a team with Shikamaru and Kiba.
Right now I'm facing a sound ninja (not the sound ninja from the Chunin exams that we know, these are some other guys) who's after our earth scroll. We've collected both the earth and heaven scroll so we're heading towards the tower to end our second exam. But now we're facing some sound ninja who've heard that we own both scrolls.
Kiba and Shikamaru are fighting the other two ninja and left me with the third one.
He runs towards me with a weird-looking ball in the palm of his right hand. I dodged his attack and quickly fire a large wave of wind towards him, which blew him against a tree. Unfortunately, he was able to stand up and bite his thump.
"You're going to be sorry for that!" he said.
Then he summond a big whale-looking thing while jumping on it. The whale opened his enormues mouth and produced a hard low tune which made me put my hands at my ears. I was shaking on my feet and the whole world turned around.
I was floating in the sky and saw the ocean beneath me. It was a breathtaking sight. But then I started falling, fast. The waves that looked so friendly just a moment ago were trying to grap me and pull me down. Someone, or something, was pulling at my feet and I could barely hold my head above the water. I struggeled and screamed but the more I seemed to move, the faster I was being pulled down. Slowely I felt myself sinking deeper in the water. The water was cold on my head when I was completely down under. I still tried to scream but no sound was heard. I had the feeling I was falling again, but faster this time. Then, I hit something. It was probably the bottem of the ocean. But when I hit it there was this very strong light. I had to close my eyes and felt my head ache. The light faded away and I peeked through my eye lids. But what I saw scared me more that it should have. The water surface was coming towards me with incredible speed. In just a mere second it reached me and the cold air slammed in my face at such speed that I couldn't breath for a second. Or maybe a bit more than a second. Wait, something was very wrong here. I couldn't breath! And now I think of it, under water I had no troubles breathing, but here, on the land (all of the water was gone) I was suffocating! I gasped for air, even trying to put my mouth in a tiny puddle of water, but nothing seemed to work. Just when I gave up I suddenly snapped out of the illision.
Air! I laid heavily breathing and coughing on the ground in the forest of dead. When I looked up I saw Shikamaru standing between the sound ninja and me. He turned his head to me and asked:
"Are you okay Lidian?"
It was then I noticed the long shadow that started at Shikamaru's feet and ended at the sound ninja's. He saved me!
"Yea- yeah, I'm fine. Thanks" I said while trying to stand up, it didnt work though, I immidiately fell down on the ground again.
"You dont really look as if you're fine." Shikamaru said. "Dont worry, I'll finish this."
Then he made the sound ninja pick up a kunai he dropped earlier and moved it towards his troat. But before he could cut his neck, an other sound ninja attacked Shikamaru with a kunai.
