Chris woke up as he found himself in a room where he was laying in bed. He looked around and saw that the room was well lit. There was a fire burning away wood in the fireplace, the lights that hung from the ceiling were giving off more light than the fireplace. Chris got out of bed and found himself in his boxers and quickly looked for his clothes. As he got dressed, a little girl walked into the room.
"You're awake!" the girl said with happiness.
Chris looked at the little girl. She had some cuts and bruises on her, it looked like there was a gash on her forehead that had been patched up.
"Who are you, little girl?"
"My name is Sally. And, I'm not little. I'm eight years old."
"My apologies, I didn't realize that I had a young lady in front of me." Chris said with a smile as he bowed.
Sally blushed as her cheeks turned a dark red. She had never gotten a compliment from someone other than Slender. She quickly turned away to hide her blush.
"Did I say something wrong?"
"N-no. I'm just not use to getting compliments from people who aren't in the family."
Chris smiled more as he headed towards the door as Sally led him downstairs. He looked around and saw many bookcases, other bedrooms that were close to the one he came out of, and saw that there were pictures of a lot of people. Chris continued to follow Sally as she led him into the living room of the house, where the figure that talked with Chris last night was. The figure turned its head towards him as Sally went up to hug the figure.
"How was your sleep?"
"It was alright. Never slept in a comfortable bed like that in a while. I almost didn't want to get up"
"I'm glad that you enjoyed your rest. When you passed out, I thought you wouldn't have woken up so soon. I told Jane and Sally to help me put you in a room so you could recover."
"Jane? Who is she?"
"She's one of the proxies that lives here with me. Her and Sally took a liking to you."
"How so?"
"They wouldn't leave your side while you were asleep. I finally had to tell them that you would be alright as long as you was resting comfortably."
Chris smiled softly as he looked down some. He never had anyone who would do that for him, since his parents died when he was born. He was always alone because of the upperclassmen at his school, that he use to go to. They would always bully him by taking his things and destroying them in front of his face. At one point of this action occurring, Chris had enough of them always bullying him and snapped badly to where he broodily beat the snout out of them. As all cowards who try to be bullies, the upperclassmen ran away from Chris. They ran toward the principal's office, in hopes to get the principal to help them, but to only be surprised by Chris because he had beat them there. They looked at him with fear all over their faces as they fell back on their asses. Chris had already explained everything to the principal and said that he was sorry that he couldn't keep his temper. The principal, at the time was a very kind lady, simply patted him on the head and told him that it was alright. But, her attitude changed when she looked at the bullies. She had expelled them because this wasn't the first time that they had been bullying a lowerclassmen. After that year, Chris was allowed to graduate early. After he came out of his flashback, Sally hugged Chris and latched onto his leg. He could only smile and laugh some as he rubbed her head. It felt good to have people caring about him again. He then looked back at the figure.
"You never told me your name."
"Oh, yes. I suppose I haven't. I'm terribly sorry about that."
"It's alright. It does happen at times. I mean, with everything that happened, I kinda figured that you would have forgotten to introduce yourself"
"I must say that you are very intelligent and you are right, I did forget when everything happened. Anyway, my name is Slenderman. But, you can call me Slender for short."
"Nice to finally and properly meet you, Slender. Of course you already know my name."
"Yes, I do. Have you forgotten that I connected to your thoughts?"
"Yea. I did forget."
"Well, now that we have all of this situated. You can stay in the room that you woke up in. It's been empty for far too long. Also, feel free to decorate it with anything you want. I don't mind what you use."
"Thanks Slender. I appreciate it."
Chris went into the kitchen because his stomach started to growl and he wanted to see what was around to eat. As he walked into the kitchen, a knife was flying towards him. Chris caught it by its handle and looked to see two people that were having an argument.
"Will you stop being such an idiot, Jeff?! I'm trying to cook."
"All I'm trying to say is that I want pancakes, bacon, and eggs for breakfast, not chicken waffles."
"You eat what I cook or you don't eat anything at all. Besides, Slender said that this would be a good way to welcome our new person into the family."
"Oh, the one you and Sally was all over? Yea, he's a real prince charming. You barely even know him and you have a crush on him."
"Shut the hell up!" Jane said angrily. "You're just mad that this one might be a good thing that happened to us. And how did you know about that? I never told anyone."
"If you're trying to say that I'm jealous of someone who we don't know, then you're stupider than I thought you can be. And to put your little mind at ease, I read your diary."
"Why did you read it?! You know you're not suppose to read a girl's private thoughts."
"It's not private when you leave the book wide open. It seemed like it was begging me to read it."
Chris walked towards them as they paid him no attention. He tapped the one named Jeff on the shoulder and saw that he jumped some. Jeff turned and saw Chris standing there in what little silence the kitchen had.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! Didn't anyone ever teach you manners? You don't just walk up behind someone and tap their shoulder!"
"Yes, they did. And I'm sorry for making you jump. But, I didn't want to intrude on the argument that you was having. Also, I don't think you should try to fight with the person who cooks your food. They may burn it on purpose if you piss them off. Oh, and you don't read someone's secrets and say them so loud that people up on the roof can hear you."
Chris turned his attention to the other person who was by the stove. The girl looked older than Sally and even older than Jeff. She was also taller that Jeff by one-foot. Chris walked passed her and pulled out a sharpening stone from the draw beside her and started to sharpen the knife that was thrown.
"Sorry, the knife seemed a little dull. Also, you're doing fine. Don't let him discourage you about the food you are cooking. Also, I actually do like chicken and waffles. They were my favorite when I was still a kid"
"O-oh, well I hope that I make them just the way you like them. And, I'm sorry that you had to hear all of that. Me and Jeff never get into fights this much."
Chris did a little examination on the girl. Her skin was pale and almost completely white, her eyes were fully black, and she had long black hair. Her outfit was a black dress with black stockings that was covered with a red apron. She, also, appeared to be about 6ft tall. About the same height as Chris but he was 6'2. Chris then looked toward the boy that was fighting with the girl. He had a pasty pale white skin tone, wore a white hoodie with black jeans, and had a smile that was made out of, what looked like, blood. His height made him look like he was 5'9. From what he could tell, the boy in front of Chris, was Jeff. Jeff looked at Chris and scanned him up and down as if he was trying to see if anything was out of place. Since this was the first time that Jeff has ever met Chris, he doesn't trust him.
Chris then looked at the clock and then looked at how far along Jane was doing. She was doing good but her pase was getting slower. Chris began to help with breakfast. Jane was surprised as she saw how Chris was mixing things quickly and getting the right amount of everything without looking at the directions on the box of waffle mix. Chris continued to cook as he started to fry the chicken after he had started to make the waffles in the waffle maker. He also had put some biscuits in the oven. He then started to cook bacon and eggs. He was working fast because he could tell that everyone was starting to get hungry. Jane watched in amazement and started to blush some, she had never seen anyone work so fast before and not mess up in the process. Not to mention, she did have a little bit of a crush on him. Chris had finished making breakfast within one minute and had the table set with plates full of food. He then began to get out cups and poured some lemonade into the cups on the table. After he had finished, Chris looked at the banquet he had laid out. Each plate had four pieces of chicken, accompanied by five waffles, three biscuits, seven pieces of bacon, and eight servings of eggs. Set beside the plates were cups filled with lemonade, and small dishes filled with maple syrup for the waffles. The biscuits were buttered, both inside and out. The bacon was crispy and crunchy as the eggs were scrambled to perfection. All that could be heard in the kitchen now was the dropping of Jeff's jaw as he couldn't believe what he was seeing. An actual breakfast with all of his favorite foods and everything was set nicely and there wasn't any sign of spills or grease dripping onto the table. He turned to Chris and rubbed his eyes. Someone who knows how to cook and set the table properly and not leave any stains on the table, was standing right in front of him. Jane was blushing more now as she show the table as well. It was better than the way she normally would do it. She hugged Chris with happiness and smiled. She then went to go tell the others that breakfast was ready as she removed her apron.
Chris smiled and took a seat at the table as everyone started to come in. Sally and Jane sat near him and Slender, Jeff sat on the other side of the table, and the others that Chris hasn't met yet, filled in the rest of the seats. They all ate the food and they complemented Chris and Jane on their cooking, but they mostly complemented Chris. This made him very happy, everyone was enjoying the meal and they liked his cooking. After breakfast, Chris walked around the mansion to explore a little bit. He walked down to the basement first and checked it out as it had many boxes and totes all around. He walked back up to the first floor and went up to the second floor. Chris started from his room to the right of the hallway and there were many more pictures and paintings on the walls. He continued to walk down the hallway until he heard an argument coming from one at the rooms that was to his left. Chris got near the door and quietly listened to the argument that was happening.
"No. I'm not using my time warp to make you older, Sally."
"But why? All I want is to see what I would look like as a teenager and as an adult."
"I said no, Sally."
"Why are you being so mean to me, Clocky? I haven't done anything wrong."
"I'm not trying to be mean, Sally. All I'm trying to say is that it wouldn't benefit you. And why do you want to do this right when the new guy showed up with Slender? Is there something that you need to talk to me about?"
"N-no! I-I just wanted to see what I would've looked like as a teen and adult since I died young. It has nothing to do with the arrival of Chris!"
"Then why are you acting like you have a crush on him? Your face is all red."
"It doesn't concern you, Clocky. You're just being a meanie!"
Chris quickly moved away from the door and walked down the hallway as Sally ran out of the room with her hands covering her face as she was crying. Chris looked back and saw her running into her room and slamming the door closed. He felt bad that he had eavesdropped on the conversation. He also wanted to know why the other girl would accuse Sally of having a crush on him. After a moment of thought, Chris continued to walk down the hallway as he looked around. He then heard another argument that was happening in the room to his right. As he got closer, Chris could make it clear that the two arguing were yelling at each other as he could tell that it was Jeff and Jane.
"Stop calling me a bad cook! If you don't like my cooking, then you don't have to eat it. You ungrateful bastard!"
"I can call you anything that I want. All I'm saying, is that the table was actually nicely set and there wasn't any grease or anything spilt on it. Also, why the hell were you blushing while Chris was cooking and preparing the table?!"
"That's none of your business!"
"Yes, it is!"
"No, it's not!"
Chris sighed softly and decided that his exploration of the house has come to an end as he turned and walked back to his room. He closed the door behind him and sat on the bed as he started to think about everything. Why was everyone being nice to someone that they don't know? Why all the arguments? Why does it feel like that there is something missing? These were the thoughts that ran through Chris's mind as he laid back on the back and stared up at the ceiling. All he could do now, was to try to be a part of the family that he found himself in. With that last thought, Chris slowly drifted to sleep as he curled up in bed, under the covers.
