Hailey's pov

I woke up alone, in a cold cave. my sweatshirt and shorts not keeping me warm enough in the cold weather up here so close to the peak of my mountain. this mountain cave is the warmest I've ever found. I plan on staying here until I die of old age.

in order for that to happen, I need food. my stash of ripe fruits is getting low and I need more water. I pick up my satchel that I hand weaved out of tall grass. something was going to happed today, I can feel it. though I ignore the feeling. I begin my descent towards the fruit trees at the bottom of the mountain.

somethings wrong there are no birds chirping, no bunnies hopping, no lizards crawling, no crickets buzzing. I feel like someone was watching me, I quickly stopped and looked around. when I heard a swig snap I quickly turned and ran back to my cave and crawled into the corner of one of the deep rocky holes.

"hello." a voice said, it was melodic and made me want to run towards it. I resisted that urge though. "can you come out, I promise we wont hurt you." a new voice said, that means I'm out-numbered, oh no.

"please, we only want to help you." a new voice said, so there's three. "sweetheart, we know where your at, we can feel your blood rushing through your veins, it might be best to surrender now." another voice said, his voice sounded gentle, but his words aggravated me.

I decided to stay in my spot, my knees pulled up to my chest, my head buried into them. "hi there, can you come out for me." this voice was far more gentle than the others, this one was a girls voice, like the first one. it reminded me of my mother.

I began to cry, I just want to stay here. I didn't want to be treated like some experiment, I poked my head out a little, there was a girl infront of me, she looked to be about thirty and she looked kind. she gave me a gentle smile and held her hand out.

"its ok we wont hurt you." she said, already knowing I wasn't going to get out of this I took her hand. she gently pulled me from my spot. she pulled me to her chest and I wrapped my arms around her neck, leaning my head on her shoulder. she stood easily and supported me.

"my, it's just a child. how does she live out here." I cried harder, "shh, its okay honey, lets get you back to base." though her words were gentle and weren't supposed to mean any harm, I began to panic. my breathing picked up and I no longer wanted to be in this girls arms.

it was as if she sensed my panic, one of her hands grabbed both my small wrists and the other kept me in place. "now just because your upset does not mean you can try to get away. I'd behave if I were you." I ignored her, and continued to move and struggle. I screamed and screamed. as my attention was only on her, I did not see another one of the vampires come up behind me and prick my neck with a syringe.

my movements slowed and my eyes drooped, I willed my eyes to stay open. I fought hard, they stayed open and I stayed awake. I couldn't move much. "Jack, she needs a higher dose." one of them stated gently moving my hair away from my face. "on it." the person who pricked me said returned a few seconds later with another syringe. a tired whine left my mouth as I attempted to move my head. I moved it, only a little though.

"we don't need you having another episode, darling." the Vampire man said and pricked me a second time. my eyes drooped and I wasn't able to keep them open.

Jack's pov

the little human's eyes closed, we all waited a minute to see if she was actually asleep or not. when we decided she was we began talking. "she's so little" Lilac said, she was the one holding the human. "radio it in." I said and turned to the horses. I pulled there rains off and slipped them in there saddle bags, after that I faced them towards the camp and slapped there asses hard and they all took off.
