3rd person P.O.V."Everyone wants to rule the world. Most people think they can..." Roman turned the page of his book with a sigh "...people can go really far to get power, to be able to rule. But the only ones who deserve it are the ones who get to the top without inhuman means but only because they deserve it-" he closed the book and put it away. He slowly walked to his widow and looked at the horizon, the whole kingdom was at his feet. He always wished that he could be the king of this wonderful town, since he was a little kid but you can't be the king if you are not part of the royal family and he wasn't.
He turned an looked at his sword, hanging next to his bed. Yes, he had managed to become a knight, the most trusted by the king, knight. He was living in the palace, like he always wanted. He was trying to convince himself that he should be proud and satisfied...but still...he felt like something was missing. The ambitious and slightly greedy side of him and his childhood dreams were creating a hole that being a knight couldn't fill. He was feeling shame for that side of him, he was ashamed that he was thinking like that.
He sighed as he turned back to the window, viewing the beautiful but still mysterious forest at the ending of the town, far away in the horizon.
Someone knocked his door, who could possibly be? He wasn't working at the moment so what was happening?
"Roman open the door. It's me" Virgil said behind the door.
Roman quickly rushed and opened the door. "Prince Virgil, what could possibly bring you here tonight, your highness?"
Virgil gives him a weird look before cracking a smile and push him playfully. "What's with the big words Ro-Ro? Now that you are a knight, we can't talk like we used to?"
"I just thought th-"
"Please Roman. I might be a prince but we are childhood friends, remember?" Virgil chuckles a bit "Can I come in?"
"Of course" Roman lets him im and closes the door behind him.
Virgil gets in and turns to Roman. "Well congratulations Roman Star. You are officially the most trusted knight of the kingdom!"
Roman smiles softly "Well..that's your highn- I mean...Virgil. But is it true that I'm the most trusted by the king..?"
"But of course! My father trusts his life to you!" Virgil smiles "Well done! You finally managed to become what you always wished to be." he chuckles "I remember you running around with your wooden sword yelling: For the king!"
Roman laughs "Yes...I remeber that."
Virgil chuckles slightly and smiles to Roman "You know, I always thought you would end up here. I mean, you are ambitious, brave, loyal, smart and cunning."
"No...I-"
"Oh come on. Don't be modest! You deseve this! And it's true."
Roman smiles "Thank you Virgil."
Virgil walks to the window and looks at the forest, he sighs.
"Anything wrong your highn- uhh Virgil?"
"It's just...I don't know...I wish I was just a normal boy...You know...A crown doesn't make you a king Roman."
"It kinda does."
"No." Virgil turns to face him "Being a king means being reaponsible, strong, determined...I...don't know if I will ever be able to become a king...I spend my whole life in this castle" he looks at the forest again "I feel like I was never a kid...I just want to run into this forest...for once...go to the town without guards, for once...I want to chose my future, not be forced to become something.."
Roman steps closer "But being a king must be so amazing."
"It sounds amazing..but..in some cases it's hard.." Virgil sighs "And I'm not special. I mean my brother is a wizard, he already has something to do, go to adventures...he is special...I'm just stuck here!" he hits his fist at the window bar.
Roman is watching silently.
Virgil sighs "Sorry for snapping..at you.."
"It's okay. So Prince Patton doesn't want to become the king either?"
"I mean..yeah. He is older, he has the right to chose. He chose to be the Royal Wizard."
"I see.."
Virgil walks to the door "I better get going..."
"Goodnight. Oh and Virgil?"
"Hm?''
"I'm sure that you are gonna be a great king." Roman smiles.
Virgil smiles slightly and nods. He walks out closing the door behind him.
Roman looks outside of the window and to the forest. "At least..I can do this." He says and grabs his sword and climps out of the window. By the time his feet touch the ground he starts running to the forest.
The forest was calm. The sun was settling down and it's golden and red sumbeams were making the night's humidity on the leafs seem like they are made of diamonds. Roman walks further in the forest. It's so quiet that he can hear his own foosteps. "Oh Virgil...if only you knew...how much I'd love to be you...destined to be the king" he thinks out loud. He suddenly feels someone or something watching him. Something suspicious, threatening, dangerous, unlknown. He could basically feel it there. He took out his sword and looked around. He couldn't hear footsteps. Only the sound of leafs...or maybe...slithering?
Roman assumed that it's not a human but some kind of animal or just the wind, but he didn't let his guard down. He kept walking with his sword ready at hand. At some point, Roman felt someome behind him and turned quickly. His sword almost hit a figure with a black cape. It's half face was covered by the hood of it's cape.
"Whoa there." The dark figure said calmly even though the sword was pointed at his neck. "I'm not gonna hurt you. Put that down please, will you?"
"Who are you?" Roman askes without lowering his sword.
"Let's just say I'm some sort of wizard and I heard your desire. I'm here to make it true."
"Excuse me, what?" Roman asked
"I'm gonna make you a King."
