Lucifer watched as the elevator doors closed and Chloe went down in it. He sighed when it was long gone and glanced at Maze before walking up to the bar, pouring himself a drink.

"I thought you were on team 'no Lucifer'." He sipped his whiskey before looking down in the glass.

"I'm not gonna apologize for trying to get home if that's what you're thinking." Maze looked over at him.

"No but maybe you should apologize for hurting the Detective." Lucifer hissed, turning to face her.

Maze huffed, raising her brows at him. "Yeah? Well maybe you shouldn't have used me as a pawn and maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't have felt the need to go home, and therefore hurt her in the process."

Lucifer scoffed, shaking his head and took another sip. "What are you really doing here Maze? Because last time I checked you didn't give two shits about me!"

Maze looked up at him again when he raised his voice. "I always did! but you were too blind to see anything, literally, you see less of what's in front of you than a dead blind person. And that's barely reaching."

"Oh I'm sorry, was I to think you actually cared when you sided with the man who hurt the Detective and me?" He chuckled and put down his glass heavily.

"No but you shouldn't have used me like you insist your dad is doing, oh and apparently including everyone else in this goddamn universe because everyone's out to get you!".

Lucifer sighed. "Bygones, Maze. Anyways the Detective is safe now and that's all that matters." He looked up from his drink to see Maze's expression shift into anger, and before he could react she punched him hard in the face. "She is not all that matters! I've been loyal to you for eons! Other people matter, not just Chloe. I- I matter!" She yelled, glaring up at him before she turned away.

Lucifer looked at her in shock, behind Maze's anger there was undeniable pain. She was shaking with rage, and as her gaze traveled down on the bar counter her hands found the handle of the demon blade Lucifer had left there.

"Maze.." He said with a warning in his voice. "I ought to cut your throat with this." She said but let go of it and looked him over.

With ruffled hair, rosy cheeks and a hastily put on pair of pants his evening activity became clear to Maze. "I hope it was worth it. Betraying me to get in her pants."

Lucifer glared at her. "Hold your tongue Maze. The Detective is.."

Maze chuckled. "You still call her Detective? How cute. Maybe the reason both me and Chloe went to Pierce was because we needed someone who could get things done, not just someone to worship the ground she walks on like a little puppy dog."

Lucifer's eyes blazed up, turning a fiery red and he grabbed Mazes wrist hard. "Tread carefully Maze." He said furiously but she scoffed.

"Or what? You'll come running into her arms like a child?" She mocked, their conversation very similar to one they've had once before.

Lucifer gritted his teeth before releasing her wrist and he turned around, walking over to the piano. "You're just jealous." He muttered before a moment of remorse washed over him.

Some time passed without neither of them talking and he finally took the first step,  glancing at the piano. "I.. shouldn't have neglected you, Maze." He sighed and shook his head. "You were the only one who was there for me after my banishment and this is how I show my gratitude?" He dared a gaze at his feisty demon companion who was looking at him hesitantly, as if she wasn't expecting him to own up to his mistakes.

"No you shouldn't have." She shot her chin up, too stubborn to show vulnerability and Lucifer nodded.

"I'm sorry." He said, seating on his piano stool with a sigh, tinkering on a few keys on the instrument before started to play 'highway to hell,' not really a common song to play on the piano but it was the first he had played when they had gotten this place.

Out of the corner of his eyes he saw the tug of smile on Maze's lips but it was gone in a second. "I'll try not to let the Det- Chloe get in between us." He said and looked up at her.

"Bros before hoes." Maze poured herself a drink and sipped it. "And Chloe is my bro, you're her hoe." She smirked and Lucifer snickered. "I suppose so. Lets make a deal shall we? I don't neglect you and you don't get in bed with my immortal enemies?" He suggested.

"Actually that was Chloe." She smirked, Lucifer glaring at her. "Right." He almost let out a growl as Maze leaned against the piano, the smirk out for good it seemed like.

"Too soon?" Maze raised a brow and he stopped playing, taking a sip. "Not at all."

"Of course not." Maze teased and he raised a brow at her. "You done?" He closed the piano.

"Maybe." She looked him over before sipping the rest of her drink.

He shook his head, watching her. "Hm," Even if this conversation had been going up and down he was glad they ended up on the same page at least.

"On a more serious note though, I did come here to discuss Cain." She said and Lucifer held back a sigh. "I didn't have much of a choice in the matter Maze." He said and glanced down at his hands.

"Well what's done is done. We need to talk about how we're going to handle what comes next." She said, serious for once. "Maybe it won't be worst case scenario." Lucifer pointed out.

"And what if it is?" She crossed her arms but he ignored it. "Then.. then we'll deal with it later." He glanced at her, seeing the look she was giving him.

"Look, if I'm in control of my wings and devil face then why wouldn't I be in control of this? It all comes down to the guilt and worth that we see in ourselves, that theory is proven by now."

Maze sighed, unsure. "And if that's the case we both know I don't feel guilty for killing Cain, he was going to hurt the people I care about and got what he deserved."

"But if it's not like that then? If it turns out your dad is still in control of it all? Are we just gonna ignore it until we see any symptoms and you might die or what?"

"I don't know Maze, I really don't." Lucifer glanced at her, examining her face. "There's not much we can do but to wait and see, it's not like I can actually ask him what's gonna happen step by step."

Maze listened to him, waiting a moment before nodding. "Fine, we'll wait. But as soon as any symptoms pop up-"

"I'll call you and we'll figure something out, yes." Lucifer nodded as well.

"Yes. And if I hear it from anyone else you're gonna catch a big fat punch in the nut sack, you got that?" She raised her brows at him and he rose.

"Yes Mazikeen, I will call you." He grabbed his glass and refilled it as Maze headed into the elevator. "You better." She said as the doors began to close.

Lucifer nodded and looked over at Maze, their eyes locking before the elevator doors were fully closed and he went out on the balcony.
