It was the 18th of August. The death day. The worst day. The first day of middle school. I always imagined it being vacant, dark, deadly. But it wasn't. I walked in clenching some study books, nervous as ever. Everyone was talking, frantically running around. I just closed my eyes and butt by them, trying to find my locker, 2041. As I walked, a tap came to my shoulder. I turned around to find a girl with gorgeous blonde hair. "Yes?" I asked her. "Would you like to try out for Sand South Cheer? We cheer for the Sharks every Tuesday and Wednesday!" She said to me, handing me a paper. "Uh....." I shyly said, looking at the form as she walked away. I turned around again and a less tall girl with purple-rimmed glasses was standing right in front of me. "May I help.. you?" I said to her. "You were talking to Meghan?" The girl spoke in a northern-ish accent. "I guess, so, but she seemed nice." I said looking behind me for her. "Well don't. She's cruel.
Meghan completely hates me." She sighed. "Oh. I guess I'll be seeing you." I tried to go past her, but it was too crowded. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" She asked me. "Um.. I'm... Kasey Laine, but I like to go by Kasey." I told her. "Pretty! I'm Rowan Bryn! But I like to go by Rowan!" She smiled. "What's your schedule?" Rowan asked me. "First is Science, Second is Gym, Third is Lunch, Fourth is Language, Fifth is Biology, Sixth is Math, and Seventh is Drama!" I read my schedule aloud. "Lucky! I don't have lunch until fifth! We're in a First and Sixth together!" She bit her bottom lip. "Cool. I guess I'll cya later!" I waved and walked away. I can't believe it. I think I finally made a friend. But, the portal hasn't began yet.
