Alyssa and Warren’s story
Chapter 1
Alyssa
I was absolutely horrible at school. I couldn’t put numbers together in my head. I was awful at history. And Chemistry wasn’t much better. But I did know two things: One, I had history with the hottest boy in our graduation class, Warren. Second, it was no secret that we had chemistry. So why is it that we don’t seem to work? Our numbers didn’t add up. Plus, we were rarely on the same page.
I was currently getting ready for my first college party. My roommate, Amy, insisted on doing my makeup. Apparently she thought I was too ‘high school’ to be seen in public with her. One week with her and I already labeled her as an old ‘queen bee’ fresh out of high school. Her platinum blonde hair took two hours to perfect while I usually only spent thirty minutes straightening mine. If only Kyla were here. I could see her look of disapproval.
I graduated with Kyla last spring. We went to the same high school and probably grade school. We didn’t really associate with each other until our senior year. She was the perfect, innocent girl that every guy wanted. I smiled at the memory of the good girl gone bad. After her break up with Cedric, Kyla was always around the party seen. If it wasn’t for the breakup, I wouldn’t have gotten to be such good friends with her. I was secretly grateful for her change. Though, if someone asked me today, I’d say I’d take the new Kyla over the innocent, nerdy Kyla and the slutty, revenge seeking Kyla.
“Have you even been listening to me?” Amy glared down at me through the mirror.
I looked up at her, “Sorry, I’m just out of it tonight.”
“Does it have to do with that Warren guy that was over last night?” Amy smirked as she curled another strand of hair.
Warren came and knocked on the dorm door last night around eleven. He was drunk and emotional. I guess Thirsty Thursday got the better of him. “No it’s not about him.” The last thing I wanted to do was discuss my love or not-so-love life with Amy the queen bee.
“It is too,” she gave me a pointed look. “You didn’t come back last night after you took him up to his room. What went on?”
“Nothing,” I shrugged. “I was just making sure he made it through the night. It’s what we always do, look out for each other.”
“So you knew him before?” Amy asked.
“Yes, we went to high school together,” I nodded but ended up burning my ear.
“Hold still,” Amy scolded me.
It took another ten minutes to finish my hair. Thankfully Amy let me do my makeup. I agreed to let her pick out my outfit which was probably a mistake.
I groaned, “I look like a slut.”
Amy smiled, “You like an actual college girl now.”
I turned to look at my side profile in the mirror. My high wasted shorts barely covered my butt and this crop was just big enough to cover my breast. I gulped. I was so uncomfortable.
“You look great, Alyssa,” Amy said while sticking on a pair of shoes.
I nodded but didn’t say a word. My nerves were kicking into high gear.
