As we walked into the massive estate, we were all gobsmacked. It was amazing. I felt a hand brush up against mine and I looked down and noticed Louis' masculine hands reach down and grab mine. A tingle ran up my spine and I smiled gently at him. All ten of us continued into the giant hall where we were eating. The meal was pleasant but we were all giddy and wanted to get up and dance.
Eventually everyone was finished eating and we were let loose into the dance hall. The D.J was playing a variety of music, so we were all pleased with the choices. Willow was a good choice for the prom committee and she had added in some of my favourites, including Ed Sheeran and 5SOS but not my favourite song unfortunately. "Why haven't you put on She Looks So Perfect?!" I asked, half jokingly but also serious too. "You'll soon see..." She responded, secretively. I was quite excited but also scared about what was about to happen. The D.J stopped playing music and everyone groaned. I looked up to the stage to see Shawn setting himself up, with a guitar in his hand and standing behind the microphone. He was getting a couple of cheers from around the crowd but I was preparing myself for the worse. The crowd was silenced by the teachers and we all looked towards him. He was tuning his guitar, preparing for the first song. "Hi, I'm going to be doing a cover of 5 Seconds of Summers 'She Looks So Perfect.' I hope you enjoy." He scanned through the crowd and made eye contact with me, and smiled. I nudged Willow who was beside me and asked, "Did you tell him to play that?" "Nope. He was practising it when I saw him a couple weeks ago and said that he wanted to play it a prom so I agreed. Told you I had a surprise!" She replied, beaming. "If he ruins this song for me, you're dead." I said, deadly serious. "Why me!?" Willow questioned. "Why not him?" "Not sure yet, but I feel like you'd deserve it." I giggled. She laughed back just as Shawn played the first chords, signalling the backing music to play. "Simmer down, simmer down, They say we're too young now to amount to anything else, But look around, We worked too damn hard for this just to give it up now. If you don't swim, you'll drown. Don't move honey." He began singing slowly and softly but eventually bringing up the tempo. The song suited the situation perfectly. He continued with the song andI was in awe. I held a grudged against this talented boy for no reason. He was very skilled. Everyone started dancing as the song got to the climax and everyone was cheering for him. I was pulled into dance by Louis, he was singing along too. Another skilled boy that was charming. I kept dancing with Louis as Shawn played more up beat covers. One after the other, everyone applauded him and he was at his last song. "This song is an original that I have written. I hope you like it." It was quite a slow song and people started to couple up and started to sway to the initial chords on the piano. I headed off, knowing that I wasn't wanted but was quickly stopped by a handgrabbing mine and pulling me in close to his chest. Louis was amazing. Always knew what to do, but he was a bit of a player and I knew this but continued to dance with him. Shawn began to sing and I listened to the lyrics carefully, "I love it when you just don't care, I love it when you dance like there's nobody there So when it gets hard, don't be afraid We don't care what them people say. As he sang the outro, everyone pulled away from their partners and applauded loudly. The lyrics were so meaningful and forgiving. Maybe this meant that he would forgive me for being such an ass. I noticed that Louis was walking off, getting ready to perform on stage but I didn't think he would be able to live up to that. Me, Willow, Ari and Camila all went up to congratulate Shawn as he left the stage. I waited st the back and Willow gave him a tight hug and kiss on the cheek. Ari and Camila gave him a side hug and then the three girls walked off together, leaving me and Shawn. "That was really good Shawn, you should be proud. And I'm sorry for being an ass to you all the time." "You don't need to apologise, but years of bullying isn't just resolved by one apology. It will take time and more effort from both sides. But it's okay for now." He walked off to the other girls. I understood where he was coming from. I was never the nicest person to him, but he was happy and to didn't want to argue.
I began to walk out, but Louis, Harry, Niall and Liam were about to perform so I thought I should stay for at least one song. It was an upbeat one and I danced with the girls, once it was over I informed Ari, Camila and Willow that I was leaving. They asked me to stay but I made up an excuse. "Mum text me and said that Martha is ill and mum wanted to go out tonight. Plus I've been out for a while and she deserves a break." I lied. Martina was fine and mum was already out.
I headed out and hopped in a taxi. It had been a lovely night, but it's time to head back into reality.
