~Three Days Later~

Logan wobbled on his four legs, not entirely used to walking in his wolf form just yet. As Logan stepped out of the medic tent, Midnight slowly walked over, her tail swaying casually. Logan looked up, thinking that Midnight was going to help him, but instead she nudged him and made him fall over with a laugh.

"Not so graceful on your feet, are you Logan?" She barked.

Logan squinted at her and grunted, slowly pulling himself up. "You know, for a warrior in training you sure are immature."

She snorted. "At least I even have a rank in this pack."

And with that, she trotted off with her tail high in the air.

Logan shook the dust off his body as Crystal came around the corner, her fur glowing under the sun. Logan looked over at her with an bored expression. "How can you stand being around that girl?"

"She has had a rough time. Her knocking you over, which I saw, by the way, is the least of your problems. Wait until she has one of her episodes," Crystal said.

 "Episodes?" Logan asked. "What episodes?"

Crystal sighed through her nose, motioning Logan to follow her. They walked to a shaded spot under a large willow tree, and they both laid down in the grass.

"Well," Crystal began, looking around to make sure no one was around, "Before Midnight joined the pack, she used to live on the streets. She didn't really have a home because she was orphaned when she was young. When Midnight was about eight years old, she was mugged by a bunch of men. These men were Normals, they didn't turn into wolves like the pack. They were much like you before you came here. Out of reflex, she turned into her wolf and tore the men apart. After that, she was so traumatized by what happened, she has had these moments when she completely forgets where she is, and who we all are, therefore causing her to lash out, simply out of fear and defense"

Logan stared at her, his eyes slightly wide as he listened to the story. Crystal continued on.

"About four years ago, she had one of the worst episodes I had seen in a long time. I was training her one day, and suddenly she was thrown into that disturbed state. She didn't know who I was. I tried to calm her down, but she ended up attacking me instead," Crystal said with a pause. She glanced up at Logan and added, "How do you think I got this scar?"

Logan glanced at the scar that ran down from her left eyebrow to her cheekbone. He noticed that in her wolf form, her left eye was a different color than the right. It was brown instead of blue.

"Yeah, I know it looks different. I can't see out of it at all," Crystal said. She let out a laugh. "Oddly enough, my worst battle scar is from my own pack."

Logan nodded silently, rendering the information he was just given. Perhaps he could make amends with Midnight after all.

Sunshine was walking through the woods in his wolf form, trying to hunt for the rest of the pack when he heard rustling behind him. His ears flicked back, and he turned around, crouching and peering into the bushes.

Sky slid her way through the leaves, transforming into her human form on the way out. "Sunshine, can we talk?"

Sunshine grunted and slowly transformed into his human form, wiping the dirt from his hands. "I suppose so. What do you need?"

Sky sighed and stepped forward a little. "Why aren't you accepting Logan into our pack?"

Sunshine glared at her. "Do you really need to ask something like that?"

"But we really need an Alpha! You know that," Sky persisted.

"No we don't. Granite and I are good enough to be leaders of the pack," Sunshine said.

"You know this won't last forever. You and Granite have been having a lot of disagreements lately. It can't end well," Sky pointed out.

"We don't even know the guy! He could lead our pack to its own extinction! You really trust some stranger over your own mate?" Sunshine yelled.

Sky stared at him, silent rage bubbling up inside of her. "If I had to choose between my mate or my entire pack, I would go with the pack."

Sunshine gaped at her as she turned on her heel and walked away.
