Pain. That's the one word Everest thought of. Pain from her loss. Pain from the destruction of her life. It wasn't fair. People say life isn't fair. Funny, their life is fair. Always. Always.
"Geo!" She screamed out. Her small frail body was shaking. Tears flooded her muddy brown eyes. She looked at the lifeless body. Geo Parker. The love of her life. The one that claimed he loved her. Maybe it was true, he sure acted like it did. But to her, it was false, if he really loved her he wouldn't have left her.
She cried until she could no more. Her body felt numb, useless, pathetic. She couldn't move. It was just then when she realized that she was just this tiny speck in this big world. One Everest hoped she wouldn't be in much longer. Don't think about that.
She realized what she had to do. She would fight. She would stop crying. She would get revenge. She wouldn't need him. She'd show him. She'd move on. That's what he would want her to do. Everest carried him to the willow tree at the park. Where they met. Fifteen years ago, they were five. Immature five-year-olds that got stuck in trees. Five-year-olds that didn't have a care in the world. Five-year-olds who claimed they loved each other. Five-year-olds who refused to be separated. She dug a small hole in the soft dirt and laid him down carefully. She took a handful of leaves and put them next to him, kissed his forehead, and piled dirt over his makeshift grave. It would do. She sighed and walked to her house. It wasn't their house anymore. It was hers. Hers. Only hers. She looked at the promise ring on her finger. Forever mine it said. Yeah, sure whatever she thinks to herself.
"Romeo! Come back to me! Please!" Everest cried out, defeated. Romeo and Juliet had been his favorite play, as he used it to ask her out three years ago. Tears welled up in her eye, and she used all her willpower to blink back tears. He was her Romeo and she was his Juliet. And unlike the play, this Juliet would fight. And she would win. No matter what it took. And that's exactly what she did.
