Gypsy's POV

You couldn't believe you'd actually found her and now fought alongside her. After witnessing that first hand and her snarky attitude, it was very clear that your captain would want to keep her for himself. You were quite amused by her ability to deny her feelings though she so obviously wore them on her sleeve. Such a stark contrast from your captain who layered everything under his angry facade.

Now that she'd turned down your first attempt to get her on the ship you'd have to try something else. You hadn't planned this far ahead, not knowing if you'd find her or how she would react to you.

Maybe if you managed to get her close enough someone on deck would see her?

No that probably wouldn't work and you were now nearing the jetties on the coastline.

A shiver traversed your spine.

"Something is off," she murmured, "it's too quiet."

You tensed as the silence was broken with the snap of some twigs very nearby.

Y/N whirled around forcing her rifle to slide down her arm catching the trigger guard with her fingers and steadying the butt of the gun against her shoulder. Her speed was almost as impressive as Killer.

Stashing your notepad away you opened your vest revealing the crisscross of leather belts holstering your daggers.

"How adorable," a gravelly voice emerged from the surrounding woods, "is the navy captain protecting the pirate girl?“

"Shut up." she barked watching the group of large men approach.
"Now, now you aren't exactly in the position - "

Quickly she fired at the man speaking, taking a shocked step back as he vanished. The men nearby sneered sharing knowing looks.

"- to be giving orders." he finished rising and reforming form a puddle on the ground.
"Shit." Y/N breathed quickly reaching into a different pocket and brandishing a darker shaded bullet.

The small group of Gifters rushed in as she deftly loaded cocked and fired. You pushed yourself forward tossing daggers in different directions, none making fatal contact. Sliding under a particularly huge beast of a man you slashed the back of his knee taking him to the ground. Blood sprayed across your chest as you twisted to come back and finish him off.

Hit an artery.

Shots continued to ring as you climbed the monster you'd taken down and jammed a dagger through his temple. Before you could get back to your feet something slimy and warm coiled around your left leg. You pulled the weapon from the dead guy's head and turned back to free yourself. When you reached down to sever your restraint there was a sharp tug forcing you back cracking your head against the stoned path and reeling you in rapidly. You grimaced as you reached its source realizing finally that it was in fact a tongue wrapped around you.

The creature slouched forward in a half human half frog form.

A zoan devil fruit eater.

Fighting against the muscle you attempted to bring yourself into some form of a seated position and slash yourself free. With almost no effort he flicked you into the air propelling you into his large body. Once caught his tongue slithered further up your body restraining your extremities. He slipped a dagger from your vest and pressed the cold metal hard against your throat drawing blood.

"Shoot one more time captain." the water man sneered down at Y/N, who was on her back rifle cocked and pointed directly at him.

He knew they had the upper hand now. They'd been watching and for whatever reason she had been unwilling to harm you. It went against the reputation the navy captain had been building. Y/N huffed, eyes darting between you and the only two men left standing. She could definitely shoot frog guy, maybe not fatally but at least to loosen his grip. There was no absolute guarantee that he wouldn't be able to slash your throat in the process.

She made eye contact with you and pursed her lips, "Do it."

Your eyes widened and your mouth went dry.
She couldn't mean...

"Captain!" Kai called running along the shoreline a familiar weapon in hand.

Kid tensed as his gaze fell over the rifle. Killer followed close, blood spattered over his mask and clothes, scythes still fastened into his gauntlets, your satchel dangling from his left hand.

"Where is she?” the redhead grit his teeth snatching the gun from Kai.
"They have a ship in the sound between this island and the next. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to reach." Killer replied calmly.
"Seems the marines have no interest in finding their captain." Heat commented sauntering up from the opposite direction.
"She must've given orders." Killer reasoned.

"Enough," Kid spat turning back toward the ship, “Ya better hope the mute girl is alive, because I’m gonna skin her."
“Sure.” Killer answered tailing behind the redhead.

You sat slumped against the wall in a small dark room Y/N's head resting on your thigh blotting the blood from her forehead with a torn piece of your shirt. It was partially your fault she took the butt of her own gun to the face. After you refused  her orders to speak the man standing over her ripped the weapon from her hands and well... that's more or less how you were captured.

She opened her eyes and hissed grabbing your wrist, "Stop...stop."

From the gentle rocking of the room and the briny scent of the ocean Y/N gathered you'd been taken aboard the Gifters ship.

"How do I keep getting wrapped up in these situations?” she slowly rose rubbing her neck.

Her eyes swayed back to your face and narrowed.

"Why couldn't you have just talked, sang, whispered... something?"

You sighed bringing your balled fists up to your head and dramatically stretching out your fingers to mimic an explosion.

"Even a whisper?”

You nodded.

She flinched suddenly remembering her transponder snail and patted down her pockets finding them empty.

"They took your bag too hmm?" she sighed when you nodded.

Now you were stuck together with zero ways to communicate.

“Ugh.” She groaned tugging at her hair, “This sucks, and you know what happens when you get back.”

You smirked a dragged our thumb against the flesh under your chin.

It would in fact be surprising if your captain let you live this time. In his eye’s you’d been trouble from the beginning  - you really out did yourself this time.

She scoffed at your response.

“I guess we should try to find a way out.” she stumbled to her feet and began feeling along the wall for the door or a weak point.

You’d been conscious when they deposited you in the room, there was one door but the handle was on the outside of the room and at this point neither of you was strong enough to kick or push through a wall. As you rose to stop her from wasting the energy a massive explosion shook the ship knocking you both to the ground.

“Well, someone’s here.”

Shouting and gunfire continued above for a few moments before the planks above you splintered and a large body crashed through hardly giving you time to scurry out of the way. You rubbed your eyes as the dust cleared.

“Hey big guy.” Y/N greeted
“Still causing trouble, navy girl.” Booka rumbled.
