I sat in my chair, leaning back against the cushion and gazed at my screen, the title typed in bold as I inhaled slowly and began the tune out everything else, I didn't know what to do. I knew this just wouldn't be the job for me after awhile, since my insomnia had gotten significantly worse, focusing on one thing or another got harder each passing day.
I had failed to submit my writings in three times this week, everyone was already questioning what was going on with me, I didn't even know myself. I didn't even know why I had chosen this job, a journalist, I always had a passion for writing but now I felt so disconnected and cut off from everything. I shut my eyes, my workplace wasn't anything special, dull white cubicals lining the walls with one person strapped in a chair typing vigorously, the keys slamming down under they're hungry fingers.
Searching for an impressing story to spit out at the boss to see if they were worthy enough to actually be printed into the papers by the next couple of weeks. Nobody ever was, rarely at least not on the isle I was settled on, I knew eventually I would most likely get fired if I kept this up, and I sure couldn't be jobless at the age of nine-teen without any other income.

The end of the day came slowly as possible, almost like I was being tortured, the clocks on the wall ticked endlessly. Click, click, click. All damn day long, it gives a sense of anxiety, like something awful will happen yet it just constantly ticks.
I stood from my chair as everyone in my isle had mostly left, only a few remaining, I pulled my jacked from off of the back of my seat and tugged it onto me. My monitor shut off, still remaining with only a few sentences on the screen before it blacked off, I felt a bit of uneasyness in my chest. Everything had been so difficult- so bad. Nothing was ever good enough, no matter how I tried.
Shoving in the chair I hoisted my purse over my shoulder and made my way down into the main area of the building and finally exited, the sky was gray and the clouds were scarce. Sighing, I puffed out my cheeks, feeling the cool breeze whip past my face, stinging my cheeks a bit. I was making my way down the to the subway which I took home everyday after work.
I settled mg purse on the bench and sat down next to it before taking note of the open pocket on the side of it, which contained my wallet along with my keys to get into mg apartment and a few other things, I felt my heart sink and suddenly felt slightly queasy and sick. My keys were in tact, but my wallet was missing and I knew I hadn't taken in out at work, so maybe I had unbutton the pocket.
I slowly got up and begain searching around for it, a little too frantically as to where it was drawing a few looks towards me.
"Hey! Miss, you dropped something!"
A rather loud male voice shouted from a little far away, I glanced up and saw whoever was speaking to me, running towards me. He slowed his pace as he got closer and panted, smiling at me and holding out my wallet towards me, which I recognized due to the scratchy surface of it. I felt relieved and let out a small sigh "Thank you." I said whilst taking it from him.
Finally I got a good glimpse of his face, he was fairly attractive and looked slightly familiar. Messy locks of brown hair, and cold blue eyes, his skin was fair and smooth and when he smiled he showed off his pearls and dimples. I blinked a few times as I awkwardly stood there for a long moment just eyeing him before I raised a hand and stuttered.
"I-I have to go, the subway will be here soon." The male held up his hands and gave a small laugh which obviously contained no humor, "Oh, alright then, see you tomorrow ?" I raised a brow and swallowed thickly "Tomorrow?" I repeated slowly after him.
He breathed a sigh "Isle four.. Correct ?" His eyebrows straightened and then it recalled where he was from, I hadn't recalled his name but he was on the isle behind me, we had only seen each other one or twice and made small and awkward conversations but nothing important or serious. It was a bit off putting to note that he had said he'd see me tomorrow, as if it would really matter.
"Well.. Sure I suppose." I answered though I didn't mean it too much, I didn't think it would matter, he smiled and nodded and I watched a few spring locks of his hair bob when he did so. I turned my head as I heard the screehc of the subway as it pulled into the station, the doors opening, I turned back to him and then gave a rather awkward nod "Thanks again." I said as I rotated around and yanked up my purse.
"Do you have a name?" He called as I began to step away from him, I glanced back and straightened my lips into a line.
"Yes." I shouted before I took my seat and the subway pulled off.
