Chapter 2
The bar was packed. You couldn't really see anyone as there was a thick layer of smoke around... but you could hear well enough.
People weir playing pool over by the window, the green light overhead piecing the smoke and streaking across the room.
The door opened behind the bar and someone entered the little room round back.
The front door creaked open and as someone entered nearly everyone's heads snapped up.
A man in a long trench coat and hat covering his face stood there.
You could sense the warning in the air:
"Don't mess with me."
Everyone went back to what they weir doing, but the uneasy feeling was still looming around them.
The man walked calmly over the threshold over to the door behind the bar.
He opened it in one fluid movement and stepped through.
He grinned to himself as he saw everyone's reaction.
There faces when pale, and someone actually dropped a glass.
"You shouldn't be here!" said a hooker over by the corner, perched on the desk trying to get attention.
"I probably shouldn't." said the man as he walked over to the desk and took a seat.
"Master isn't going to like this." She mumbled as she walked out of the door back into the bar. Everyone else in the room copied her, as they didn't want to be here when their master arrived.
The man sat there for a while in silence. Arms crossed and eyes closed.
Then the door opened.
"You have a death wish Mitchell." The man who entered said wistfully.
"Not really." Answered the man at the desk, whilst taking his hat off revieling short black hair and hazel eyes.
He grinned.
"Then what is stopping me from killing you, child?" the man who entered asked whilst taking off his long black coat to revile his black suit, brown hair and dark grey eyes.
Mitchell leaned forward.
"I've got her." he smiled
The man stopped. "What? Do you realise what this means? We only have a matter of time! She will be turning 17 in one week's time. Every demon in this town will be after her... not to mention THEM," he pointed up.
"You're right." Mitchell agreed "We must get her as soon as possible... but there's another problem..."
The man stared at Mitchell. Waiting.
"Sky. He's seen her to. He'll be protecting her... or taking her for himself."
The man cursed. "DAMN THEM!" He shouted.
He leaned against the wall. Breathing hard. Then he looked up "You will get her. Shuffle her loose the mortal coil. Her soul will be ours. The prophecy will come through to us. US."
"Does this mean you aren't going to kill me after all?" Mitchell asked sweetly
"Not if you get her. If you fail..." He made a gesture, turned on his heal, and walked out of the door.
Mitchell Grinned.
"They're so gullible. Lower demons!" he scoffed "What do you think my lord?" he asked to thin air.
Suddenly the air shimmered next to the door and a man in a black cloak stood there. His cackling laughter pierced the room.
"Do as he said. Kill her. Don't give him her soul. She will be ours." His ice cold laughter pieced the room as he vanished.
Mitchell shivered, then grinned. "Yes. OURS."
He stood up and walked out the door.
