*****~~Prologue~~*****
This story begins with the family tree of the well known Spanish Merchant Julio Rodriquez and his wife Arabella. They were very wealthy and very closely related to the King and Queen of Spain of their era. Lady Arabella was the Queen’s second cousin and was thus highly sought after. It was rumoured that she was more beautiful than any mermaid and rivalled any angel easily. Her hair was long, stained with the colour of blood; her eyes were a mesmerizing shade of blue known today as turquoise and her voice, oh her voice was said to be so melodious that she was believe to be singing when she spoke. Many were shocked and disappointed when she chose to marry Julio, a merchant with very low blood status; in fact her family disowned her for it. But she was said to have a fighting spirit and was cleverer than first impressions let on.
She graced her husband with four children, Genevieve, Isabella, Eliza and Ashworth. Genevieve’s only ambition was to marry a rich man and live the life of luxury. Isabella went on to become a nun and Eliza became a school teacher. Ashworth was part of the Spanish Army and was out of work after the war ended. He was one of the first to join Columbus’ crew. He made a home for himself and his wife and rose to wealth in the new world rapidly. His wife, Selena had given him two daughters but not an heir, not a son. He made a mistress out of one of the servants on the plantations. Her name was Arianna; she was creole but very beautiful; fair skinned with lovely brown eyes.
She gave Ashworth two sons, twins to be exact. The twins went on with their lives normally but when their wives gave birth, the strangest thing occurred. Two girls were born; ten seconds apart but they were identical to each other. As these girls grew, it could easily be seen that they were both perfect images of Lady Arabella herself. Twenty years after the birth of those girls, twins were born to a descendant of Eliza, both identical to Arabella. As the years drew on, every twenty years, two girls descended from the Rodriguez family would be born in Arabella’s image. It bewildered the doctors to no end. What had Arabella done to ensure that every twenty years these two girls were born in her resemblance? Was it her intention? Did someone place a curse on the family’s bloodline? No one truly knows the answer to any of these questions.
