Prologue

Eddie was a sad prince. Yet he was made out
to have everything. That was the stereotype he
was born into, but just because you're royalty
doesn't mean you have a pure heart. The queen of Gold was meant to have a soul as beautiful as gold itself, but instead her soul was made of tar.

Don't be fooled by the optimistic grin, hopeful yellow eyes, or persuasive promises. Her heart is riddled with selfishness and greed. The land of gold was guaranteed a safe ruler, but instead they were given a villain in the shape of a queen.

The world was divided into three separate kingdoms. The land of Gold, The land of Silver, and the land of Obsidian. All of the kingdoms had separate tribes that had secondary leaders. They once lived in peace, separated from each other. The three kingdoms were happy in their own twisted ways and that was all that mattered, up until the good and the evil started mixing.

The land of Silver was neither good nor evil, beautiful nor ugly. They had neutral morals and weren't ruled by any king or queen. If you passed away in the land of Silver your spirit will join the sky, turning into a floating star.

The land of Gold was told to be the place where all beings could be cheerful and good, under the civilized rule of the king and queen. Once you pass on in the land of Gold your spirit joins at the core of the earth to keep it fully intact.

The land of Obsidian is a place that everyone fears. You can't run, you can't hide, the land of Obsidian is where all the wicked things roam free. Controlled by a queen who isn't able to love. If you die in Obsidian your spirit remains there, reincarnated as a frightful demon. Unrecognizable to anyone who you held dear.

Quiet chaos began when the late queen of Gold became enthralled with a demon exploring the land of Gold. They explored a forbidden affair and for a while it was kept a secret, that was until the queen became pregnant. The king at the time was convinced it was his and the queen was determined to keep it that way.

Once she gave birth she was gifted with two beautiful baby girls. One of which had delicate bronzed skin, glorious sunshine colored eyes and rich hazelnut hair, looking similar to the queen herself. The other had milky white skin, stormy grey eyes and fiery red hair. Of course she had to notice the pale daughter's different look. It frightened her.

Since no twins could rule for gold, the queen hastily had her beautifully pure daughter stupidly thrown into a cantankerous place, all because she looked different. She was left with that bronzed beauty who the king named Sonia, raised in luxury and spoiled with an extravagant lifestyle. That was until she was sent to the enchanted tree when she was 7, like all the princesses before her.

The enchanted tree was the longest held tradition in the land of Gold.At the age of seven, every princess that came from the queen would be sent away to be locked in an enchanted tree. The tree had a spell that could only be broken when the princess's true prince came to rescue her, therefore the magic of the enchantment would break, and the tree would split open revealing the beautiful and helpless princess.

Frank Kaspbrak was prince of his his people, the Likas. He was wandering in the forest on his horse one day when he stumbled upon an abnormally large tree. He ended up shattering the enchantment and Sonia was set free. He abandoned his people for her, and ruled beside her as king.

When Sonia was set to bare a child, everyone prepared for a baby girl. Every queen for hundreds of years had been blessed with gorgeous girls. But when Sonia welcomed her child, it wasn't what she expected. She had given birth to a boy.

The whole world was talking about it. They called him the miracle boy. But he wasn't a miracle, Edward Kaspbrak was the product of an impure bloodline. The land of Gold was in a frenzy. They would bombard the king and queen with questions about the traditions

"Will he go in the tree?"

"Who would rescue him? Not a boy I hope."

"What's gonna happen to the next generation?"

That's when Sonia came up with the idea that would change the boy's life forever. She released a letter to the people of gold.

Dearest goldens,
It is my pleasure to announce a new tradition for our beloved Prince Edward. He will be sent to the tree at seven years old like all the princesses before him. This time though, we will only be accepting female suitors. She must be strong and cunning, also capable of holding her own. Along the way there will be obstacles (as there was any other time). I look forward to seeing my future daughter in law and the new queen of our wonderful Gold.

Mothers and fathers scrambled to get their daughters ready for the quest, the entire land buzzing with excitement. Little did anyone know, the news had spread to Obsidian where the evil queen thrived. She was delighted to hear of all these weak little ladies from Gold baring their teeth to a bitter journey. She had only one goal. To make sure that no woman split that tree, and she had just the pair to make that happen.

A girl who got her blazing hair from the evil queen herself, and the girl's best friend. A four eyed boy who doesn't know how to love.
