Hey guys! This is the plot twist chapter - I hope you guys like the twist because I wasn't sure whether to do it or not but whatever. I'm sorry I've been inactive for the last week or so, I've been in Crete on holiday! However, I'm back now and the last chapter of the main storyline will be up sometime over the next few days. Vote/comment/etc! ENJOY! c:

Connor was unconscious for a few hours but Achilles told you to leave him alone - it was clear he hadn't slept in a long while. For a while, you walked dazedly around the house and stables, unsure as to what was going on. You were the most important thing; nothing could touch you.

As the sun began its slow descent towards the horizon, you sat in Achilles' rocking chair and watched it, just thinking. When would all this end? When would all the efforts and struggles you, Connor and Achilles had been through be worth it? When would your plans come to fruition, if ever? In your lifetimes or some time way in the future? Every day you'd watched Connor fight and fight; you knew he couldn't hide anymore and you knew that his feelings for you placed him in a difficult situation. Personally, you were beginning to wonder if the two of you would ever get the chance to just be together, not to have to worry about Templars and Assassins, to live and let live. Would you ever just go on a leisurely walk or visit the neighbours with no other motive than because that you wanted to?

Before you could think more, you heard a weak voice murmuring behind you.

"(Y/n)..Charles is..No, Charles is.." The words became mumbles and then faded away even as you approached Connor's side. As you reached out to feel his forehead for signs of fever, he opened his confused eyes. For a moment, he looked lost but as you stooped down, his face broke into a rare smile, teeth and all. Before you could speak, he had dragged you to his level and was kissing you. You could feel his hesitancy, the silent question: Are you still angry? You half-laughed and shook your head no, at which point Connor's whole body sagged with relief and you felt him slide his hand around your waist and lift you, as if to pull you onto him-

"Well, I'm glad you two have made up," an amused voice said from the doorway. Abruptly, you and Connor both pulled away from each other and awkwardly turned to look at Achilles. However, he was already walking away, shoulders shaking with silent laughter.

Connor hastily cleared his throat and called out to his mentor. "Can I get up now?"

"Why don't you ask your nurse?"

You threw some choice swear words back at Achilles, which he didn't deign to reply to and helped Connor to his feet. Pulling you behind him, the Assassin walked out the door and a short distance away from the house, far enough away not to be overheard.

"(Y/n), there is something I have to tell you." Connor's voice was earnest but strangely reluctant as well.

"What's wrong?" You reached out to catch his hand and Connor didn't pull away.

"Do you remember when we first met?"

"Yes. Why?"

"Do you remember what you told me of your mother? And how men came looking for you?"

"Yes." Why was he bringing this up? The memories of you hiding in the bushes and watching helplessly as your mother was killed weren't exactly something you liked thinking or talking about.

"Do you know why they came?"

You frowned. Why had you never thought of that? "..No..Wait, do you know?"

Connor nodded hesitantly and you leaned towards him, suddenly desperate to understand. "Why? Why, Connor?"

The words he chose were picked carefully. "My father was not the only one who..who loved women from..outside of the cities."
