The Prussian woman saw the blade fall into the depths of the ocean. She tried to catch it but it was no use, she was too late. The knife was a gift from her late brother, Gilbert Beilschmidt, years before he died. 'I have to get it back' she thought, her dark red eyes filled with determination as she dived into the cold, dark waters. However, there was one major problem. She couldn't swim. Julchen began to panic, her limbs flailing in the water. 'I'm going to die!' Was the only thing running through her mind at this point in time. Sinking deeper into the abyss, she shut her eyes and smiled 'so this is what it's like to drown..' she thought 'I wonder if this is what my family felt when they drowned?' She thought, her hair floating about her head, her eyes closed and a smile still etched on her face. The albino smiled, she was reminiscing about the time she was happy. The time before she despised the creatures of the ocean. The time, when her loved ones, when her family was alive. 'I can be with them again.' The Prussian thought as she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and pull her up to the surface and back onto the ship. The person who brought her to safety was a young woman called Sakura. She layed Julchen down on the deck and looked back into the ocean.
"I'll get your blade back Jul." The girl said even though Julchen was passed out. She dived into the abyss and started her search for the Prussians blade.
While Sakura was searching for the knife, Julchen felt as if she had woken up in another world, but it was all in her mind. The albino woman looked around, it was empty apart from a house. She walked towards it and the sounds of childrens laughter filled her ears. She snuck closer to the house and listened in on a conversation between two very familiar people.
"Julch! Look what I found!" A young, but already raspy and annoying voice called out. The older woman peeked from behind a wall to see what was going on. Two children, a girl and a boy, both with ruby red hues and silvery white hair were looking at two tiny yellow birds. Then it hit her. This was her and Gilbert! The two brids were Julbird and Gilbird! The younger version of Julchen laughed "Gil! Give me one of them!" She smirked as her brother nodded. The older version of Julchen would've liked to continue watching, but the scenery changed.
"Hey schwester! I challenge you to a duel!" Gilbert, now a preteen yelled with his obnoxiously loud voice. The younger female albino nodded eagerly. "Oh you're on!" She yelled back. The moment before they started dueling, the scenery changed once more.
The Prussian woman was now standing at the beach, watching herself and her two brothers, Gilbert and Ludwig who had blonde hair and ice blue eyes. The three siblings were laughing while the older Julchen watched on.
"Julchen you unawesome loser! Come swim with us!" Gilbert , now sixteen, yelled to his younger sister. The younger Julchen shook her head stubbornly and stuck out her tongue. Ludwig the youngest at 14 just sighed. Julchen knew what was coming next as she braced herself while the scenery changed again.
The older Julchen was now standing behind her older self, they were still at the beach, but it was now night.
"GIVE THEM BACK!" Julchen jumped slightly when the scream, filled with sadness and desperation escaped her younger selves lips and into the cool night air. By the tone in the younger Julchen's voice, she could guess what had happened. This was when her family drowned. When she could do nothing but scream and cry and look for a better life. The older Julchen watched on as her younger self cried and clenched her fists and looked out at the ocean.
"I'll avenge you, I'll avenge you all! I promise!" She yelled as the scenery changed again.
The younger version of her captain, Arthur Kirkland, stared at her.
"This is when I joined his crew." The older Julchen whispered to herself as the young Captain Kirkland shook his head.
"Can you prove yourself worthy of joining my crew?" He asked with a stern voice. The younger Julchen nodded and drew her sword.
"I guess you want to see if I'm strong enough." She mumbled, before attacking. The scenery changed again.
Julchen was surrounded in complete and utter darkness. She started to panic.
"Hello! Is anyone here?" She called out. She was sitting down now.
"Is this what death looks like?" She asked herself as the world appeared before her again, but she was still trapped inside her mind. She was watching two creatures walk by. They stopped beside her.
"W-What do you want?" She asked and tried to reach for a knife or a gun. Nothing was there. The two creatures just stood there, one was bright white and looked full of life, like an angel almost while the other one looked like a corpse and was black as twilight. The reached towards Julchens arms, the corpse took the left and the angel look a like took her right arm. Julchen screamed and tried to escape their grip, but it was too strong. After walking for a while, the creatures faded away leaving Julchen all alone once more. A line appeared where she was standing, on one side, the room was darker and seemed to have an aura of death. On the other side, the room was a pure white and had a slight golden glow. 'This is weird but awesome at the same time.' Julchen thought before choosing to step over to the side with the pure white walls and golden glow. Her vision went white as the real world started to come back into focus. She coughed up some waterand looked around.
"I'm alive.." She mumbled, noticing her soulmate and another mermaid who had a light yellow tail, tan skin, honey brown eyes and curly brown hair. Her soulmate had strawberry blonde hair, light blue eyes and thick eyebrows. The mermaid's name was Valentina and Julchen's soulmate was called Oliver.
"I'm alive.." She repeated, looking up at the sky
"I'm alive brothers.. Are you proud? I pulled through!" She laughed.
Julchen recovered quickly and went back to her awesome ways.
The rest? History.
