Aaden's P.O.V

Even though my Mom wasn’t really there, I could still feel her presence around me, her soul lingering in  the sweet summer air and that gave me strength.

I shifted my attention to the girl in front of me. She was twirling her hair around her finger, anxiously looking around and trying to blend in. She caught me walking towards her  and her eyes widened.  Her eye brows furrowed as she looked at me, as if she was scanning my face. I stood still, confused, as she slightly nodded to herself and stood up.

She started walking to the  fraying wooden door of the park. As she opened it, she looked behind her and made eye-contact with me, as if trying to transmit a message from her brain to mine. I got a funny feeling in my stomach in my stomach like I should follow her. I was curious about the cause of her strange  behavior too. Even though strange situations didn't seem to surprise me much anymore.

She walked out and I followed her, a few steps behind. She stood on the edge on the street and looked both ways. Once she was sure there were no cars, she crossed the street and made her way inside an abandoned building opposite of the park which was deserted as long as I can remember. I caught up to her and entered the building which was partially empty.  Nothing more than boxes, rusty metal poles and tables.

‘’Take a seat, Aaden’’, she said. Her voice was eerie and held a hint of sorrow.

‘’How do you know my name? Who are you?’’, I said firmly. I wasn’t going to take a seat in some building with an potential maniac.

She took a deep breath before speaking. ‘’I’m Crimson, your guardian Angel’’

I raised my eyebrows. Any other person would have freaked over this odd situation but I felt calmness come over me. I was particularly friendly with ghosts and spirits because I can see them and talk to them. I have read many books on this topic, hoping to understand myself better,  but everything these days distorted with false teaching so we can never trust what’s real.

‘’Yeah? Then how come I never saw you until now? You look pretty normal to me.’’, I asked her.

Ghost are  translucent and we can see though them. When they are around you, the temperature falls suddenly. It becomes very chilly as they use the heat as energy for themselves. They are very hazy-looking  and have no physical substance that can be touched or felt like any  individuals except for people like me.

But my supposed ''Guardian Angel''standing in front of my looked like another other person, perfectly solid and defined.

Crimson paced the room, breathing heavily until she stood still and looked at me.

‘’Aaden, please trust me. Spiritual guardians appear before their appointed humans when they are ready to embrace them. You didn’t see me, but I was there. Well, for example..’’ She paused, seeming to think hard. ‘’Remember, when you were seven and you were trying to cross the street by yourself? A car came rushing towards you and you froze, startled. Try to remember what happened next.’’

Then like a vivid vision, I remembered everything. I was swept of my feet so I could could see the top of top of the car, then I was placed gently on the other side of the street. When I turned to my left to see what or who had helped me, I saw nothing but instead red light flashed into my eyes and then it was gone.

‘’That was….you?’’, I asked questioningly.

‘’Yes, that was me. What about the time you went camping with your father, some years back. The sun was shining brightly and you were out into the depths of the forest, trying to find firewood. You didn’t find much firewood but you did find a black snake with red scales. Who do you suppose that was?’’
