Kyle was feeling elated. His first mission was with the girl he adored. Of course it was one-sided but he didn't mind. It was a standard search and stake but obviously they wouldn't give anything too difficult to two rookies. Especially since one of them was the chief's daughter and future chief in her own right. She was in even higher spirits than him. After all she'd been begging for missions since a year ago, after she turned 15. "Slow down a bit Kayla", he shouted, "the coffin isn't going anywhere". The locals wouldn't be so stupid as to open a sealed coffin after all. "I know, I know, but it's our first mission. Isn't this exciting?". She laughed and sped up. He shook his head and chased after her. They reached their target ruins. Explorers had alerted them of a sealed black coffin with numerous crosses attached. Sounded like a perfect job for Hunters. As they entered the room the locals had described Kayla gasped. "Numerous crosses is a bit of an understatement don't you think?", she whispered. There were four huge silver crosses erected, as if standing guard, around the coffin. Which was cocooned in silver chains which also criss crossed to make countless crosses. Then for added effect the coffin itself was etched with crosses. They too were silver. "I may be wrong but I think there may be a vampire inside that thing", Kyle joked. "I dunno, might be a goblin", she replied. "But untangling those chains is gonna be annoying". They couldn't just break it and risk undoing the seal too early. It was impossible to tell how long the vampire was under. Even though a feral vampire was mindless and weaker than your average, it paid to be cautious cuz it could still rip your head off and would gladly do so. "Alright moment of truth", Kayla said undoing the last coil. "Let's see what's behind door number one". Throwing the top off the coffin she poised, stake in hand ready to stab stab the chest of it's resident. However she paused, and that pause was all it took for things to go horribly wrong.
