I groan in exhaustion as my ringing phone rips me from my sleep.
I had a long day of practice behind me and just when I managed to fall asleep, someone decided to disturb me. What did I do to deserve this?
"Hayoon, listen up, I think it's best for you to go to that audition tomorrow," a voice rings through my phone and I frown at the familiar sound of Chae-rin's voice.
I sit up in my bed and run a hand through my hair, replying "What do you mean?"
"That audition you told me of, the one you were considering. Go," Chae-rin says, a tone in her voice that I don't think I've ever heard before.
"I only said I'm thinking about going, I don't think I'll be taken in by them. And I still have half a year long contract left with YG, I don't think I could come up with the rest of the expenses, if I should change companies...", I mumble, thinking. Should I leave my company now, I would have to come up with all the expenses for the rest of the year until my contract automatically runs out. I don't think I have enough money for that.
"Hayoon, please go to that audition tomorrow. Sure, Big Hit isn't that popular, but they announced they've got something planned and I bet you would have better chances there than with YG," Chae-rin says, to which I immediately shoot back "Why do you want me to go so suddenly? These past weeks I can't recall you being approving of this."
Chae-rin hesitates with her answer, before she finally says "I heard Jjangmae say that they're gonna send you to a surgeon tomorrow. V-line."
Out of instinct, my hand shoots up to my jaw, my eyes wide. I knew it was only a matter of time until they'd send me out to get that surgery, but I don't want it. Sure, with my contract I signed my complete devotion to whatever they want me to do, but I can't do this.
Resurrecting my jawline to look more aesthetically pleasing is too risky and I can't do that. Recovery takes weeks and I'm requested for a TV-show shoot in a week.
"Are you sure they were talking about me?", I ask and I can almost see Chae-rin nod on the other end of the line "Jjangmae told the girls and I about it, knowing we're close to you. He said we should warn you ahead about it. Apparently the surgery is scheduled in the morning."
"I have to get up early anyways to get to Big Hit in time," I mumble in trance, my fingers trailing my jaw slightly. I don't want them to do this to me.
"I'm sorry about this," Chae-rin says and I can hear her sincerity.
"Don't apologize, this isn't your fault."
"Just, please go to that audition. If anyone asks for you, the girls and I will think of something," Chae-rin says and I smile at that.
"Thank you, Chae-rin. I love you."
I can hear her grin as she replies "I know. Love you too."
I've been sitting here since eight in the morning, waiting for my turn to audition. It's currently five in the evening. Chae-rin hasn't texted me yet, so I guess that so far everything is going on okay.
I sit in the back of the room, in the final line, waiting for what seems like forever. I'm seriously tired.
The line before mine finally stands up to head to the auditioning room. I huff a sigh of relief and close my eyes, mentally going through what I plan to do. I try to think of anything, really, just not YG entertainment and how I'll be dead if they find out where I was.
Then again, Big Hit isn't that big. Maybe they'll laugh it off.
"You okay?", a voice tunes up beside me and I open my eyes to find a boy my age kneeling before me, looking at me in slight concern.
I nod and sit up slightly "I'm okay."
He smiles in return "Oh good, I thought you passed out or something." He moves to sit beside me and I shuffle a little to the left so he can sit down.
He then says "Jung Hoseok, nice to meet you."
We both bow slightly towards the other, bumping our heads in the process, to which we both have to laugh.
"Lee Hayoon, it's nice to meet you, too."
Hoseoks eyes light up and he frowns slightly. What an odd combination.
"Aren't you already part of a company?", he asks and I slowly nod "Yeah, but I want to get away from them. They aren't the company I need."
"And what company do you need?"
"A company that supports my dreams and doesn't stand in my way. A company that allows me to choose as freely as I can."
Hoseok nods and then smiles brightly "What are you going to do? I want to dance!"
"I want to rap," I smile in return "I can't wait to see you dance."
Hoseok's smile turns brighter than I thought it could and my smile widens in automatic response.
Finally the doors open and we get called in.
Hoseok jumps to his feet in an instant and holds out his hands to pull me up, which I gladly accept.
"We're gonna rock this and become future idols, I can sense it," Hoseok says to me as we make our way into the auditioning room.
Let's get this over with.
