They have what?

Pidge was looking through the garrison files in their data and saw a large file called pilots, being the curious girl she was opened the file and saw files of hundreds of pilots, one name stood out 'Sargent Adam W.' She knew the name of course she did, he was Matt's best friend after they moved to America from Italy. They had been Theater nerds together who had both enrolled in the garrison together. They had met shiro early on in the garrison and became a team in the simulator.  She hurried to click on it and it had a physical file location, a digital memory file and a video file . As soon as she saw this she contacted her brother "Matt! Matt you'll never believe what I just found!"

"What did you find katie?" A very confused Matt asked

"Remember Adam?

"You mean my dead best friend, yeah"

"Come to my location like right now I need to show you something!

At this he rushed out of the lab with his dad to see his sister at s computer looking extremely hyper

"What did you find katie"

"I was going through garrison files and found a huge folder called 'pilots' when I saw Adam I opened it, there's a video, a location for something physical and a digital memory file, i think when dad came back he helped utilise memory storage from the minds of people to be kept if something was to happen. Just before the galra attacked he must have known it was imminent so he had every garrison pilot upload their memories for their loved ones, I'm curious what the physical file is though, should we watch this video"

Matt nodded to his sister and watched as she clicked on the video and played it.
it started  with Adam sat in an office in the garrison "if your watching this, I'm likely dead, Matt, you've always been the best person in my life, Make it Home to your mon, I hope katie does too. The galra are almost here, you told your dad to stop broadcasting but we think that it was intercepted by the galra, if this is Takashi watching, I'm sorry for everything, if they attack and I'm sent up sam has my ring, I know I said I wouldn't be here when you got back but when they said you were the reason for the mission failure it broke me I knew I had to keep your ring and my faith in you. I love you still, tell Keith he's in trouble the garrison thinks he kidnapped the missing cadets. Katie is one of those cadets the garrison knows. Matt if it's you i was by your mom's side when katie ran away to the garrison I was there until sam came back. You guys are my family since my parents died in that crash. If I'm dead before I see Takashi again I want you to use the physical file, you'll understand when you see it- Wait what do you mean their attacking now? I guess this is it" Adam left shot then it shifts to the camera inside Adam's cockpit when he was sent out in the first wave, it shifted between looking over his head and his face. It was recording up until he was shot down until the footage was gone but his pained yell still resonated through the computer's speakers

Matt was in shock "where's that physical file!"

Pidge pulled up the info for it and gave Matt its location "remember it's under 'Sargent Adam W."

Matt nodded running to go find the file. When he started searching he realised it was 2 vials, one of blood and one of saliva- Adam's unique dna profile. They could clone him and use allura's help to put his memories into The clone. He rushed back to pidge "KATIE! DAD AND ADAM LEFT A FAILSAFE FOR SHIRO!"

Pidge looked at him and saw the vials "dna- he wants us to clone him and put his memories into the clone! We need to keep this a secret form everyone but allura and dad, Shiro's birthday is soon isn't it. I mean Christmas is closer but it could take several attempts to create a successful clone so February would be a good benchmark. Let's go find dad and allura, you talk to dad I'll get allura"

Matt nodded running off with the vials still and told their dad everything and how they wanted to surprise shiro with it for his birthday. He agreed knowing it was important to his son and shiro while pidge explained everything to allura and made her promise not to tell anyone about it.

Matt pov-

I rushed into the lab where me and dad had been working "dad I need you to stop the experiment this is important like super important"

When dad had stopped the experiment and looked at me I showed him the vials "we need to clone Adam, you guys came up with a fail safe for if pilots died during the galra attack, me and pidge want to clone Adam and surprise shiro with him for his birthday in February- it gives us time to make a successful clone..."

When dad hugged me I froze up but hugged back

"I didn't think anyone would find those files we hurried to put them in the atlas with everything else then move them back over , we'll need help uploading the memories but we can definitely try to clone Adam, he meant a lot to you and shiro, I'm sorry that you found out because of his plaque, let's see if we can't use any of the schematics I have from my time in galra captivity and when on the castle of lions for anything relating to cloning. Let me guess Katie found the files"

I nodded "yeah that's why I ran out sorry dad"

"It's okay where is katie?"

"She went to get allura for help with the whole cloning and memory thing"

Meanwhile

Pidge pov-

I ran to find allura "allura I need to talk to you"

When allura looked at me "what is it pidge?"

"Me, matt and my dad need your help"

"What with?"

"Someone important to my brother and shiro died in the initial invasion but we have his memories and dna- he suggested if he was dead he wanted to be cloned, will you help us?"

Allura nodded "of course that sounds very important"

"Let's Go to Matt and my dad's lab  they should be waiting for us" I dragged her towards my dad's lab excited

When pidge ran into the lab with allura  Matt smiled "so it's agreed where going through with this" when everyone nodded they started working on a machine for cloning.
