Kai's POV
It's been about two weeks since I had that conversation with Eliza. Looking back it still hurt me. I often think about her. I wonder what it would be like if I didn't lie to her or ignore her lies. Nothing happened with me and Ellen. I just wanted to see her again. She was my first love. Maybe I should have told E. No, I should have told E about her. I should have brought E with me to make her feel more comfortable. Those six months with E was the best time in my life. Sure it wasn't picture perfect but being with her made it seem that way. Now I'm just here, a hole in my heart. I feel the same way I felt when she first said she wanted a break.
I knew that it would be a break-up. That's how it always is. Taking a "break" is a polite way a dumping a person. I held on hope that she would come back to me. When I heard that she met someone I knew that I had lost the best thing that had happened to me.
When I talked to my brother, Sage, about this he scoffed at me
"Dude, you were a junior. Calm down," he had said shaking my head. I looked at him with sorrow in my eyes. Everyone said this to me. My dad, mom, Kyle, and even Eliza. I wanted to believe them. I wish they were right, but looking back on it I had something with her that not a lot of people experience in their life.
"Kai, babe. Stop," Eliza pleaded as I tickled her. She was wearing a white tank top and sweats. Her loosely coiled hair began to fall out of her ponytail holder. Her smile contrasted against her brown colored skin. She was absolutely beautiful. I am in love with her, I thought.
Stopping in my tracks I looked into her eyes. She stared back at me with a smile on her face. As I continued to stare she started to lose her smile and began to shift uncomfortably.
"What did I do Kai?" I stared at her and leaned down. I captured her lips with my own. She instantly reciprocated. Slipping my tongue in her mouth we wrestled a little bit. She moaned in my mouth. I picked her up and sat her on my lap. I brought my lips to her again cupping her butt in the process. She moved her hips closer to me. Getting excited I began to suck on her neck, making sure I would leave marks that she and anyone can see. She began to grind on me. As I began to lift her shirt her hands met mine.
"I'm not ready for that Kai," she confessed. Looking at her I could tell she was nervous. She looked down. I lifted her chin so she could face me. I kissed her nose, forehead than chin. Nodding she proceeded to get off me and we cuddled watching White Chicks.
"E, baby girl." Eliza looked at me with her big eyes. I wanted to kiss her again...well do more than that but she wasn't ready. "I love you."
I smiled looking back to that wonderful day. She didn't say it then but I knew by her eyes she was close to being there as well. We were together for about five months. Now we would have been together for seven, oh how life sucks.
Grabbing my boots, keys, and phone I headed out of the house. I left my mom a note telling her I was going to work. After the whole argument with E, I decided to get a job. I found one at the bookstore. Thanks to E, I got into reading. She was more into online books as I was into the real thing. I just felt that there was nothing better than holding one in your hand. Oh, and I love the book smell. New and old.
It was a ten-minute ride from my house, but with my driving, I was there in seven minutes. I saw Josh, my coworker on the cash register. He had blue hair, tattoos, and piercings by his eye. I thought he was a total loser until I started talking to him. He was cool. He got me into a couple of cool bands and books.
Making my way into the back room I saw the books that I had to scan and stock on the shelves. This would keep me busy, I thought. Sighing I looked to see if I had any water left over in the refrigerator. I took a bottle and put it on the kart and clocked in at the same time. Wheeling the kart I began to feel more relaxed. This job has done wonders to me. I'm so glad that I came here often when I was dating Eliza.
