She slowly backed away and the light surrounding her changed its color from a calm light blue to a fearless orange and I was thankful, that she backed away. The woman who just a few moments ago seemed like a calm sea now felt like a huge fire just waiting to get a hold of you and never let you go. The light surrounding her grew and suddenly not only her body, but everything was illuminated. Throughout the whole process, I kept my eyes on her every move. I studied her, trying to memorize every last moment. Now that I was about to leave this place, I didn't want to leave. Although I hated it, it was a huge part of me. She slowly raised her arms on her side and started murmuring something in a language that seemed unfamiliar to me. The bracelets on her wrist sounded in the background like now huge and fearless bells, making a terrifying sound. There was a slight breeze, waving her hair through the air, making her seem magical and even more beautiful. I finally reached my safety boat in the stormy night, grabbing onto it like it was the only other thing here with me and never letting go. The ground beneath my feet slowly changed its color, revealing the Earth from above. I saw the lights in the cities in the sleeping part of the world and felt the lively atmosphere of the glowing side. I felt like I was just about to exit the darkness and enter the light, finally feeling complete and normal. I looked back up at her and saw that she was waiting for me, behind her the ground ended. I skeptically walked over to her on the now glass-like ground. She was smiling. I was confused. Why was she smiling? She signaled for me to jump. I looked at her searching for some sign, that this was all just a joke to her, but there was no sign. She was completely sure of what she did and I trusted her blindly. I slowly put one foot in front of the other, moving toward the edge, until my toes were in the air. I looked at her one last time, then bent down and jumped. I felt scared and excited at once. I fell and fell and felt like flying. I started laughing, laughing at every single human being down there, foolishly walking around, not knowing how to fly, not knowing what it really felt like to be free. I laughed and stretched out my arms and legs, letting the wind hit me in the face. It was cold and warm at once, the bright sun on my back and the cold wind hitting me with all of its force. I saw the clouds come near and suddenly started to slow down. The sun was shining brightly and the clouds were beautiful, reflecting the sunlight in all kinds of colors. Finally, I thought, I got what I deserved. I had to suffer from this cruel curse for all of my life, not getting the feeling away, that I did something wrong, but in the end, I'm the only one who ever got to see the beauty behind the grey clouds I used to detest. I looked up one last time, still seeing the woman in red standing on that invisible platform I jumped from. The sun was blinding and I looked back down, but it felt reassuring, to see her watch me, like a mother watching her kids leave for school. The clouds were rapidly coming closer, and I closed my eyes, not wanting the water to sting my eyes. I felt myself get surrounded by something cold and soon after, my clothes were soaked. I opened my eyes, but everything was black. There was not a single stray of light. Suddenly I felt scared, knowing that I was no longer surrounded by clouds. It was like the darkness I had to endure my whole life, just far worse. There was no blue light that I could dream about, and no voice talking to me. There was nothing, and I was in the middle of it, only this time I knew, that I wouldn't wake up and find myself in my bed.
