Lilea's P.O.V.

The shackles burned my wrists and the wolfsbain warmed my blood to an uncomfortable level while my lungs became weaker with every breath. The door to my cell opened and I lifted my gaze to see the alpha, Edgar, slowly walking toward me, a stupid smirk on his face. "Why hello, my little Luna," he greeted as he crouched in front of me, "How are we today?"

I pulled my head up from where it hung by my chest, looking at him with narrowed eyes and a small smirk on my lips. "I'm wonderful, my alpha," I told him flirtatiously, choking on the words, "I'm just a little short of starving, hyperventilating, and this close to bleeding out. But other than that, I couldn't be better." It was the truth. I could never be better if I stayed here. He then pulled out a dagger and held the blade to my throat.

"Don't take that tone with me, darling. You know what you have to do to get out of this cell and into my bed," he said ever so softly.

"And I would want that why?" I growled. He pressed the blade closer to my skin.

"Don't you want to be Luna?" he asked.

"No," I told him stiffly. He then took the knife and swung it around before dropping the blade on the back of my neck.

I winced as he cut the skin. He then grew out his fangs and bit my neck, sending pain throughout my body. I screamed in terror and agony as the mark was forced into my skin. My heart felt like it was being ripped away from my "true mate's" claws and thrown into a blazing fire. After too long, Edgar ripped his teeth out and I fell to the floor, weakened by pain. I now knew nothing more painful than a forced marking. He knelt next to me and took some of my blood on his finger before licking it.

"I'll be back later, my love," he whispered as he left my cell. I knew what that meant. At least a week. And since they put the wolfsbain in my food, if I just didn't eat it, I'd be able to get away by Wednesday.

Tuesday

"Are you ready?" my wolf, Lilac, asked as I got situated. The shackles that connected me with the wall heated up at my movement.

I was born ready.

"Be careful. I'll take over if you need me to," she told me. I then took a deep breath and focused my mind on my physical strength. I didn't have much, but I had enough.

I felt the brightness coming from my chest, painful but addicting at the same time. My power merged with Lilac's and blue smoke started surrounding me, making a wolf's figure above my head as she gave me some of her abilities. The power coursed through my veins as my eyes darkened to black and I put the bottoms of my feet against the wall. Then, in one fluid motion, I pushed myself from the wall, causing the chains to break away and form a hole in the barrier, just large enough for me to get through. I caught my breath as I heard the guards coming. I then threw myself out the hole and ran through the darkness, to the cover of the forest. The chains and chunks of cement were trailing behind me, the shackles still on my wrists. I heard Edgar howl in the distance as I neared the boarder. I picked up the pace as I passed the scent line. I was now in a different pack's territory, uninvited. I was a rogue.

Morning

I've been running for hours now and I finally decided to slow to a walk. "Are you okay?" Lilac asked.

I'm fine, I panted, I'm sorry I can't let you out.

"Don't worry about that. I'll survive. You need to find shelter." Before I could, the power of tiredness overwhelmed me and I fell against a tree. "Lilea!" she barked.

I'm sorry, Lilac. Just...a few...minutes. And with that, I was plunged into the darkness of sleep, the last thing I saw being a blurry outline of a female approaching me.
