I stood there for a minute, not quite sure what to do, before I turned around and went back to the small office. The boy was still there, and he glanced up when Gracie and walked in, a confused look on his face.

"Um, we're kind of... trapped. In the subway station, I mean," I explained, and the boy groaned.

"You've got to be kidding me," he muttered, and he swiftly left the room as is he had to check if I was lying or not. I set Gracie down, my eyes scanning across the interior of the room. There really wasn't a lot to it; there was a desk with a computer and papers scattered across the surface, a mini- fridge, and a small, worn-out couch.

The boy must have realized I was telling the truth, as I soon heard loud cursing from outside the room. I quickly covered Gracie's ears, and when he walked back in and saw what I was doing, the boy shot me a sheepish smile along with a mumbled apology.

"So, uh, I guess since we're going to be stuck here together, we should get to know each other, yeah? I'm Luke," he held his hand out to me, which I shook.

"Juliette," I told him, and he then looked down at Gracie, who was still cowering behind my legs/ Luke smiled slightly and squatted down to her height.

"Hey, there. I'm Luke. What's you're name?"

Gracie peeked one blue eyes open and mumbled, "Gracie."

I was surprised; Gracie barely even talked to the workers at the foster home, let alone complete strangers. Luke gave Gracie another smile before he stood up, and it suddenly hit me how much taller than me he was. He had at least a good five inches on me.

"So, is she your sister?"

I nodded, the response coming naturally. I was pretty sure the only people who know that we weren't blood sisters were the people who keep track of the files at Sunnyside.

"How long do you think we'll be stuck down here?" I piped up, if only to fill the slightly awkward silence. Luke shrugged.

"I dunno. I would call my uncle to let him know that we're trapped down here, but," he sighed, "My battery's dead. Go figure." I must have had a pretty worried look on my face, as because Luke hurriedly continued. "Don't worry, though, I'm sure my uncle will realize something is up when I don't come home tonight, and when he comes to look for me, he'll get someone to get us out."

"Okay," I replied, nervously on my bottom lip. Suddenly, I felt Gracie tugging on my jeans, and I knelt down to be eye level with her.

"Julie? I'm hungry. My tummy's growling," she whispered, loudly, and my stomach dropped when I realized I had no food for her except for the chocolate bunny.

"Um..." I started, trying to think of a good way to tell the four year old that we don't have any supper when Luke cleared his throat.

"I, uh, have a turkey sandwich in the fridge, you two can just split it, if you want? I mean, it's not much, but it's better than not eating anything, right?"

"Thanks, Luke, but what would you eat?" Before I was even done talking, Luke rolled his eyes playfully and pulled open the fridge, grabbing a brown paper sack.

"I packed two and at the other one a little bit ago. Now c'mon, I'd feel bad knowing that neither of had any dinner," he gave us a small smile as he said this, and it was then that i noticed the deep dimples on both of his cheeks. I tentatively took the bag, settling both Gracie and I into a sitting position, and unwrapped the sandwich. Splitting it into two pieces, I gave one piece to Gracie and bit into the other one myself as Luke took a seat opposite us.

"We should get to know each other a bit better," he mused, an easy grin on his face. "If we're going to be stuck down here at least for the night."
