Leaves

I felt the leaves fall onto my head as I walked past the balding trees. The cold morning air filled my lungs with every breath I took. I loved taking morning walks, it gave me the energy I needed for the rest of the day. My first class started in an hour so I decided to sit on a bench and take some time to eat the peanut butter sandwich I took with me. I wiped away some of the leaves that had fallen onto the bench and sat down. The metal the bench was made out of felt cold against my legs. I grabbed my sandwich out of my bag and took a bite. I looked at the people passing by. There was an elderly lady who was walking her two white dogs. One of the dogs ran up to me and looked at me with his puppy eyes. "I think he likes your sandwich." The woman said with a smile. I took a piece of my sandwich and gave it to the dog. I rubbed him over his small head before he walked back to his owner. I let myself fall back against the bench and looked at the rising sun. It looked like the perfect picture, the top of the sun peaking above the horizon, shining through tall trees in front of me. I looked in my bag and grabbed my camera to take a picture when a tall man sat down next to me. I looked over at him and saw that he was dressed in workout clothes. I could hear his heavy breathing, he probably had been running. "It looks beautiful, doesn't it?" I heard him say as I took a picture. "Yup." I said and looked at my camera. "Your camera looks cool." He said, pointing at the vintage device in my hands. "Yeah, I got it from a yard sale." I put my camera back into my bag and took another bite of my sandwich. I looked at the man again and saw that he was staring at me. I frowned at him. "Sorry, your sandwich just looks so good." He said, clearly noticing the annoyed look on my face. I smiled at him to show that I was not mad. "I'm Namjoon by the way." He said sticking out his hand. I put my sandwich down on my bag and quickly swallowed the piece I had in my mouth. "I'm Keely." I said as I grabbed his hand and shook it.
"I go to the university nearby, I major in music." He told me.
"I go there too, but I major in law."
"Smart girl."
"I actually don't really like it, it's really boring."
"Why do you do it then?"
"I wanted to do photography but my parents said that I was better off studying something I could get a decent job with. And they pay for everything so it's kinda hard to say no."
I looked at my phone and saw that my class was starting in 15 minutes. "I have to go. It was nice meeting you." I said as I stood up and put my bag over my shoulders. He waved at me, right before I turned around and started walking to my class.

After two hours of almost falling asleep in class I went back to my dorm. When I got to my room I sat down on my bed and looked at the wall behind it. It was full of polaroids of my friends and my happiest moments. I always got a warm, joyful feeling whenever I looked at them. It reminded me of the times I was actually happy. I jumped out of my thoughts when I heard a loud knock on my door. "Keely! Do you want to have lunch with me and Jungkook?" I heard a feminine voice say from behind the door. It was my friend Serinity.
We have been best friends ever since our first day in high school. She had chocolate milk with her and accidentally spilled it all over my white shirt. I was really angry but she gave me an extra shirt, because she always takes extra clothes with her everywhere she goes, and she told me that I could keep it as a way of saying sorry. I still wear it all the time, eventhough it's bright pink and has a glitter heart on it. We met Jungkook in our first year of university. He sat down next to Serinity on one of the first days of class and after it was over he said: "I was supposed to be in the music class." Serinity found it really funny and asked for his number. And now we are inseparable, and we spend as much time together as possible. "Yeah, I'll be out in a minute!" I said. I don't really get ready for my morning classes so my hair was still in a messy bun, I was wearing an oversized, red sweater with some grey sweatpants, and my face looked like a mess. I brushed my hair, fixed my face, and put on my most comfortable blue skinny jeans. I grabbed my bag, put my camera in it and walked out of the door. "So, where are we going?" I asked Serinity and Jungkook who were standing in front of me. "The St. Nicolas Café, like we always do." Jungkook answered.
Everybody who worked at the café knew our names, since we came there almost every day. We sat down at our usual spot and ordered our usual orders. I was addicted to tea so I always ordered the tea special of the day with grilled cheese. "So, did anything exciting happen today?" Serinity asked after we all got our food. "I put on two different socks this morning, because I'm quirky like that." Jungkook said while putting one hand on his hip and waving the other one through the air. Me and Serinity laughed. I loved the stupid jokes Jungkook always made, it made me happy. I took out my camera and pointed it at my two friends. Suddenly Jungkook grabbed the device and pointed it back at me. I pulled my hoodie over my head. "Smile." I heard Jungkook say right before I heard the clicking sound of my camera. I pulled the hoodie back of my head and grabbed my camera from Jungkook's hands. Serinity looked over Jungkook's shoulder. "Looks beautiful." She said with a smile. "You can't even see my face." I said while I looked at the polaroid Jungkook was holding. "That's what I mean, beautiful." She chuckled. I laughed as I lightly punched her on the shoulder. I put my camera back into my bag and continued eating my grilled cheese.

A few minutes later I saw a tall figure walking up to our table. I almost chocked on my tea when I realized who it was, it was Namjoon. "Hi." He said. "Hey, Namjoon." I heard Jungkook greet him. "Uuhm... h-hi." I stuttered. "Oh, hey photographer. What a coincidence seeing you again." He didn't notice me until I said something. "Wait, you know Keely?" Jungkook asked suprised. "We met this morning." I told him. "Yeah. This fell out of your pocket, by the way." He handed me a polaroid of me and my mom when I graduated high school. I quickly grabbed it out of his hand and put it in my pocket. "Thanks." I said. "I actually came to ask you for the notes for the upcoming test." Namjoon said, looking at Jungkook. "Oh, yeah of course. I've got a copy right here." Jungkook said, handing over the neatly typed out notes. "Thanks." Namjoon said and gave Jungkook some money.
"You're selling your notes now?" I asked Jungkook after Namjoon had walked away. "Times are tough. A man's gotta make money somehow." He said, shrugging his shoulders. I laughed, "You could also get a job at the library, I mean you always talk about the boy that works there so why don't you do the same?" "Oh, no. I could never do that." He said, shaking his head. "He has a crush on the library boy." Serinity said as she nudged Jungkook. "No I don't." Jungkook's face turned red. "Just apply for a job there, you could become friends with that boy." I said. "If you don't do it, I'll do it for you." Serinity said as she grabbed Jungkook's phone from the table. "Hey, give that back!" Jungkook tried to grab his phone from Serinity's hands but she quickly ran to the girls bathroom. "Why did I give her my phone password." Jungkook said while face palming.
"Aaand... Sent." Serinity said a few minutes later while walking out of the bathroom. Jungkook snatched his phone from her hands and looked at what she just sent. "Did you seriously just sent my resume to the library and say that I love to work with cute boys. You bi-" "Language!" I screamed. "You'll thank me when you stand at the altar with library boy." Serinity said, rubbing her hands through Jungkook's hair.
